Eyecatchers 👀 WORLINGTON You’d have to be living under a flat racing rock not to have noticed this one earlier… Handicap debutant for George Boughey, who has a reputation for getting these types well treated. Worlington was campaigned in maidens over trips too short, dropped out the back and never put in a position to show his hand. Tonight, on handicap debut, he was slow to stride and had to be scrubbed along but made strong late headway to confirm he’s very well handicapped. The 1m trip looked on the short side, which ties in with his stride data - long, slow stride (attached), suggesting middle distances will suit. Worlington reminds me a bit of Hardstyle, another recent Boughey handicap project - well backed on debut, didn’t quite deliver, but went on to win 3 of his next 6 and is now almost 20lbs higher. Worlington won’t go under the radar next time… But he’s one to keep firmly on side over 8f+

@brodders_be Thinking along the same lines and landed on Kai Lung @ 28/1. Thought he was every bit as eye catching as Mon Creuset as I would be fairly confident they wouldn’t have want to have made it.

What we learned last year is that Willie Mullins doesn't always know the pecking order of his juveniles so it's worth throwing a few darts. I've backed 3 ew - Apolon De Charnie @ 18/1, Mon Creuset @ 22/1 and Forty Fifty @ 50/1. The last one is especially interesting at the price

@tony_calvin Totally get your point here TC but the old analogy: “don’t hate the player, hate the game” springs to mind. System is there to be exploited & prize money isn’t good enough to incentivise honest campaigning. Everyone does it, Dan Skelton is very good at it

Genuinely interested to see how the winning handicap gambles are received by punters on here, as it doesn't seem to bother those in print/TV. Punters may well love them, too. May put up a couple of polls if any appetite in finding out. If I do, please help them along with RTs.
