just had a mind-boggling realization that i had used and developed on ethereum for almost ten years and the default rpc experience hasn’t improved even a little bit over that time.

wrong, this has been a pain point for 10+ years. it’s just cope the default ux requires reinventing so much shit to be at least slightly usable. if ethereum is serious about self-sovereignty, it should be trivial to get account-centric data, and fast. at least some projects like otterscan and trueblocks can see that.

🚨 There’s a large-scale supply chain attack in progress: the NPM account of a reputable developer has been compromised. The affected packages have already been downloaded over 1 billion times, meaning the entire JavaScript ecosystem may be at risk. The malicious payload works by silently swapping crypto addresses on the fly to steal funds. If you use a hardware wallet, pay attention to every transaction before signing and you're safe. If you don’t use a hardware wallet, refrain from making any on-chain transactions for now. It’s still unclear whether the attacker is also stealing seeds from software wallets directly at this stage. Cutting ISA’s tax limits to £4k from £20k will be the final straw not only for the wealthy who are fleeing the UK, but also for “working people” they bang on about

Someone accidentally sent 16E to a contract address on the wrong chain.
Wanted to rescue the 16E, but forgot that the deployment script has been configured to deploy mocks if not on Ethereum mainnet. Skipped the nonce. Deployed a mock contract without withdraw function onto that address.
The contract is forever bricked.

Critical bug introduced in recent @MetaMask update was rather quietly fixed. In case you have users that have lost funds in the last couple of days, this may be the culprit.

@JamesIvings @Erwin_AI Shutting down an app which is making money is an absolute no-go. Maybe if your app makes no money this is fine, in that case set spending limits, it's that simple.

Letting a company go 24,000% over their expected budget by default is bonkers.
Make 100% a sensible default and then shut it down, customer is then responsible for paying and bringing it back up if they want.
There's no bad PR in that at all imo.

If you get a 'surprise' bill like this, you're not fit to run a tech business/product/platform.
There's spending limits, email notifications and, you know, your own responsibility. You accepted the terms and conditions when running on someone elses platform.

@Erwin_AI @JamesIvings Vercel is great at making the effort to contact you in situations like this, in my experience it's usually the customer that is wrong. We can't predict the usage of our app day to day so spending limits would cause downtime. This is quite normal for apps of scale.
