The speed at which you just shifted your entire argument is absolutely embarrassing. First, you tried to sanitize the horror of Roman slavery by falsely claiming it wasn't that bad, it was just debt relief. And slaves got free food and clothes. Now that I’ve pointed out the text explicitly mentions “unjust” masters and Roman law defined slaves as property, you’ve abandoned that argument completely and are now pretending it's just “survival advice.” But hey, Let’s look at your new excuse, because it fails just as miserably as your last one. The text does not say 'stay strong and endure.' It says: “Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.” The Bible explicitly commands human beings to actively submit and show deference and respect to their abusers and captors. Peter then goes on in the very next verses to say that if you endure a beating for something you didn't do, it is 'a gracious thing in the sight of God.' That isn’t survival advice. That’s the Bible validating human ownership and violence. Telling a victim of human trafficking to bow down and respect the monster beating them and then claiming God is pleased by their abuse is morally apprehensible. And your repeated, smug reliance on the phrase 'do your own research' has become a joke. You keep saying it because you have absolutely nothing else to offer. Actual historical research straight from the Digest of Justinian to Roman legal codes confirms that Roman slaves were legally classified as objects and had no rights to their own bodies, and were routinely tortured. You don't get to rewrite history and distort the plain text of the Bible just to protect your little comfort zone. You are defending the indefensible, and your refusal to acknowledge basic facts because they hurt your theological narrative is pure willful blindness. Keep your 'research' and your excuses. I'm completely done wasting my time on this shit with a vile human being such as yourself.

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman What you quoted isn’t suggesting slavery where a slave is treated unjustly is right. Its instructions for those who cannot escape it to stay strong and endure. Again your take on the slavery being spoken about is wrong. I suggest doing your own research.

Hold on dude are you seriously defending slavery and indentured servitude while also trying to take a “holier than thou” stance by not cussing? Saying that Roman slaves had food and shelter doesn't change the fact that they were legally classified as property and subjected to rampant physical and sexual abuse, they also had no bodily autonomy. And on top of that, Peter 2:18 explicitly commands that slaves must submit to cruel and unjust masters. You’re sitting here trying to rewrite and justify Roman history to make slavery sound like it was some sort of benign corporate internship which is just historically illiterate and morally indefensible, especially from someone who thinks they’re so high and mighty they can’t say cuss words

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman In the case of orderly worship it is fair to tell women not to speak to keep distractions from occurring. You don’t have to like it but it is the Word of God whether you agree or not. Frame it however you like but just know the gift of salvation is free. God bless.

I’m sorry but do you realize the level of prejudice and sexism that you’re speaking with currently? If a group of individuals is being disruptive, a true fair leader corrects the disruptive behavior they don’t ban an entire demographic from speaking altogether, that’s just absurd. Like try to imagine a classroom where we have a few male students that keep interrupting the teacher. If the teacher stands up and says, "All men must now keep silent in this classroom because it is shameful for a man to speak here if you want to learn anything ask your mom or girls in this class at home" that teacher would be fired for blatant discrimination. Banning an entire gender because of the actions of a few is the textbook definition of prejudice

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman It would be a fair rule if in your example women kept speaking at inappropriate times during the meeting. Turning the attention away from the subject at hand. That’s what the church of Corinth dealt with and Paul corrected them on it. To preserve good order and discipline.

This is beyond absurd. And borderline disgusting to defend fallacy. Restricting a discriminatory rule to a specific location or event does not make the rule any less discriminatory. If we made a law today saying "Women must keep silent during official business meetings because it is shameful for them to speak; if they have questions, they must ask their husbands at home," no one would defend it by saying, "Well, they can talk in the parking lot!"

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman Based off the research i have done slave/master back then is NOT the same as what we see today. People became slaves to pay off debts and once that debt was paid they were let go. They had food, water, shelter and clothes. I guess do your own research then.

Submission to authority would also apply to slavery, no? Servant/master was also slavery then just as it is now. The term servant was given to “common workers” yes, but common workers aren’t what they are today. It wasn’t a system of bosses and employees within terms of master was those who held legal, and economic authority over their workers. I.E. Slavery. To pretend that the Bible isn’t telling slaves to submit to their masters is just flat out lying.

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman Yes misinterpretation bc you lack context. You are using a modern definition of “submit”. Women preached on the streets all the time during Paul’s (the person you just quoted) ministry and they were never told to stop. That verse is for during service at church.

@MatthewSalud5v @NFL_DovKleiman I’m sorry a misinterpretation? It quite literally says “For they do not have permission to speak, but should be in submission” there is no possible way to misinterpret that as anything other than blatant sexism. Stop justifying your religions bigotry

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman I’m not denying it. The subtitle of the chapter you quoted from is called “Submission to Authority” in the ESV translation. Servant/master is different from what we see today. Servants were there voluntarily to pay off debts. In some cases masters took advantage of that.

@MatthewSalud5v @NFL_DovKleiman Dude it literally says “servants and masters.” It could not possibly be more clear that it is talking about slavery and servitude. Stop moving the goalposts to justify the absurdity of what the Bible actually says

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman Your second post is another misinterpretation where Paul is simply commanding women not to bring attention to themselves publicly by asking questions during a sermon. It was common in the church of Corinth yet wrong.

Sounds good man if you want to just move the goal posts we can talk about New Testament moral laws, such as commanding slaves to obey their masters no matter how unjust, or how woman are not allowed to speak in the church. "Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust." — 1 Peter 2:18 "the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church." — 1 Corinthians 14:34-35

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman Ceremonial, food, and clothing laws have been fulfilled through Jesus. Moral laws such as the 10 commandments still apply since New Testament double downs on them. Hopefully that helps.

@MatthewSalud5v @NFL_DovKleiman And I’d refer you to Leviticus chapter 19 that states “Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” Some rules in the Bible are silly and it’s okay to recognize that

@GridironReport2 @NFL_DovKleiman If you’re interested, I would recommend James Chapter 3. He talks about taming the tongue(the words you say). Not all the “rules” we follow come from the 10 commandments. The New Testament has more. And they aren’t called commandments.

Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.  It is time for ABC to take a stand.  How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.
