In 24 hours, the war in the Middle East has driven gas prices up 20% and pushed oil prices higher again. Families are paying the price for this illegal war. It is unfair and unsustainable for people who are already struggling with the cost of living crisis. Today, our Finance Minister John O’Dowd met and again urged the British government to put proper support in place for workers and families.

It is crucial to note that the Queen’s University debating society (Literific) is increasingly playing a part in making the university a cold house to PUL students. They silenced me from speaking on a debate on the Irish language, now the referendum there is divisive chaos! Wow!

It is possible to call out a Genocide in Gaza, call out Hamas, call out anti-semitism, call out the IRGC, Houthis, call out Trump & Netanyahu and their illegal war and also want Iranians to live in peace free from oppression. None of that is mutually exclusive to me. My work reflects all of that, not some of it. All of it. If that draws criticism, so be it. But please be accurate.

The Secretary of State tells @endamcclafferty there is now a possibility the £81m to knock £30 of electric bills in NI could be repurposed for other forms of public support. (This is separate from the £17m for oil support announced today.)

Thanks also to Chair of the Justice Committee @paulfrewDUP for highlighting gambling addiction during his remarks. Pre-sentencing reports are a vital opportunity to direct people experiencing gambling harm towards support and rehabilitation

Alliance Youth had an exciting and insightful day at the annual Alliance Party Conference. Members left feeling inspired after hearing from Party Leader Naomi Long, and special guest Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, with the key takeaway being to choose Hope, Not Fear.
