@Matthigginson94 If he didn't have flaws to his game, he wouldn't be at Burnley. It's an obvious point but it stands for all our players at the level we're at, unfortunately. He's not perfect but his returns have been very good overall.

Seen some baffling Gerrard takes on here today. Of course everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and if you don’t want Gerrard then that’s fine. But saying you want Cork, Barnes or Jackson instead of Gerrard is just brain dead IMVHO

@TheBurnleyWay damned if you do & damned if you don't situation the board have backed themselves into a corner right now I believe we give him to November see where we are in the league then either pot him or give him a new contract with a close that says he can sack him for poor performance

The problem is his style isn't sustainable, his record is 100% promotion and then 100% either sacked or relegated. He's also out of contract next summer, so do we keep and renew, knowing if he gets us up we're likely in a position again to sack him? Or if we stay down and don't perform, again we'd have renewed and potentially sack before Christmas. It's a very tough position the board have got themselves in, but I can't see how keeping him provides a better answer given his contract situation.

Gerrard may not be the most appealing for some but he absolutely should be on the shortlist. I don’t see him as a ‘quick fix’, like Parker was. Despite the warnings from Villa fans, I wouldn’t mind him. I just hope the list will have some ambitious candidates as well, it felt like we almost settled for Parker. We have more time this time to get it right, if Parker leaves this week, they have a chance to do it properly. #TwitterClarets

@Matthigginson94 I agree, the board needs to determine how they wanted us to play first and foremost, I said this a few months ago. We need an identity we stick to for the next 5 years, not constant changes in philosophy.

@TheBurnleyWay that is very true & you could be right me personally I think we need stability it would mean 3 managers in 6 years each with a totally different style of play all while yoyoing between leagues do I think SP should be in charge ? no but he could be what we need

I'll always give manager a chance, I did with Parker. Anderlecht fans also said the same about Kompany, so you always need a pinch of salt. For me, Gerrard has a bit more motivation to succeed close to home, and that does mean something. I like the idea of having somebody more local.

@turfmoorhouse by no means am I a SP fan however to sack him now we are down is pointless, he has a track record of getting teams promoted he has done three times might as well just stick with him now & address the issue next summer if we go up
