🏟️ World Athletics president Seb Coe told The Guardian that he has had discussions with organizers for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles about staging some events outside of the stadium.
🗣️ “We wanted to see more of our events outside of the stadium in Paris," Coe told The Guardian. "They were keen at first, and then, I think they looked at the cost and all sorts of things. But if you do it properly, I think it’s additive, I really do. And I know LA is more open to taking some of our disciplines outside of the stadium.”
At this year's Diamond League final, the meet featured the men’s and women's pole vault, women’s high jump, men’s long jump and men’s and women’s shot put in the streets of Zurich's Sechseläutenplatz. In 2022, a temporary course around the Zurich Opera House was used to contest the men's and women's 5000m.
