@CarolynS4121420 It’s because she’s not a colleague. My salary as a news anchor wouldn’t be helpful. I’d be happy to tell her what salary to expect at jobs in other market sizes that she might be up for. I absolutely help people in my biz with a range- if they are up for a job like mine.

Recently, one of my college students asked me what my salary was. I laughed. She was serious. She said many younger people are sharing their salary w/ colleagues. Transparency = pay equality. So would you share your salary with a co-worker? Have you? *BTW, I didn't tell her.
