2:40 PM radar | A line of thunderstorms is developing from Everett south through Seattle and Tacoma, with small hail, lightning, and gusty winds expected as it moves eastward. Remember: when thunder roars, go indoors! Move inside for safety. #wawx
@natalia_barbour@ActiveTowns Many are going 15-20 mph with other bike path traffic going the same in opposite direction. Many very inexperienced. Nobody insured. Be careful!
@mayormcginn More people are driving because buses and walking have become scary and unsafe. Too many belligerent drug addicts on the buses, and lining the streets between bus stop and office. We need to enforce existing drug possession laws, and stop allowing free riders on Metro.
@NWSSeattle We used to call this a “silver thaw” in my youth, but my wife said she never heard of a silver thaw. I can report it’s a silver thaw in Magnolia.
@badarahmed@AmericanFietser You are less likely to be harassed by belligerent drug-addicts and street criminals if you wear a yellow or orange vest — Based on my personal experiences and survival experiments in downtown Seattle.
@AmericanFietser Such a coincidence. I saw a pedestrian with a reflective vest on the sidewalk as well in my neighborhood in Seattle last night (for the first time).
It was surprising to see but I understand why the person wore it, that street was not well lit and there is a big elevation change
@mayormcginn The freeway construction separated the famously sung about intersection of “12th Street and Vine” from the historically thriving black neighborhood near 18th and Vine. (Beatles, Muddy Waters, “I’m going to Kansas City . . . “) A museum there tells of what was lost.
@mayormcginn Check your homeowners or renters policy for liability coverage while riding your ebike. Your insurer may say it is excluded as a “motorized land vehicle.”
I googled a Buck Owens title for lyrics. Up pops Colbie Caillat, “mxmtoon,” Weezer, Grace Phipps, Seventeen, Jaden Smith, and BoyWithUke. 7 different songs. No Buck. I’m dying. Maybe dead.
@mpusto A yellow or orange vest with reflective striping is a good idea for riding anytime in traffic. Construction workers must wear them because they are so effective at reducing accidents.
#BikeTwitter My kid will be riding home from middle school this fall, and once daylight savings is gone, it will be after sunset when they leave. What bike lights do you recommend riding in the dark? All my bikes have integrated hub lights but theirs does not. Rechargeable please
