If you want to choke on your coffee this morning ponder this..... In Sweden, sheep producers get an annual average subsidy of AU$184 per ewe they run and AU$92 per lamb they sell. Add on top of this lamb is AU$16.80 at the moment which makes a lamb worth AU$461.60!

@sheepGeekCP Agreed. I think it’s a problem worth trying to solve. I am tinkering around with and email augmentation tool that rips info from RCTI’s, kill sheets, auctions plus assessments etc. it might help but will never be perfect

Blows my mind a little that in the cropping industry production metrics per ha (t/ha, b/ha etc) are broadly measured, known and discussed. But in livestock its not the case. Only a small % of operators would know their kg/ha of beef/wool/lamb etc.

For those who don't often read scientific publications, including phrases such as "Using misguided logic and selective literature," is seriously taking the gloves off! A significant response from these scientists @rural_roundup @Rural_News @TheCountry @Pandasport @rowie_nz

A research article published earlier this year implied that urinary nitrogen from dairy cows may have a negligible role to play in nitrogen leaching from grazed pasture systems like those in NZ .... /3

Has to be the dumbest logic you’ll read in a long time. The basics of keeping a boat afloat are universal irrespective of who’s captain 🤦🏻‍♂️

I interviewed a female veteran who served as an officer on 🇺🇸 ships about this incident, and she shared an intriguing perspective I’ve never heard before. She said that it took men centuries and thousands of shipwrecks to master commanding ships without major incidents, and we should expect some losses as women, who think differently, learn the ropes and gain that experience too doing it their way. She said losses are to be expected and they are ok especially if there’s no loss of life. She said we shouldn’t try to investigate this from a male perspective but learn lessons from a female perspective. I didn’t include this in the article because I couldn’t figure out how to present it without sparking a DEI firestorm, but it’s a thought-provoking take nonetheless. I kinda agree. Women do think different and this could become be a major tactical advantage for us but testing new methods and systems of thought comes with risks, especially at sea. The question is, with our @USNavyCNO saying to be prepared for war in 2027… can we afford to test new methods and lose ships while mistakes are inevitably made in the learning process? Or maybe with possible war looming on the horizon and so many great women already in command across our fleet… can we afford not to let them do things different and make mistakes?

This ewe has 3 very cheeky lambs. One standing on her and 2 with blue marks. The marks are from when we find a lost lamb in a paddock, but it has a full tummy. We mark them, and if they're still lost next time, they become a pet.

I hurt my jaw in sporting collision and my colleagues will not stop teasing me about extra shifts at the so-called "dicksucking factory". Which I doubt is a real place

@MauryJL In a feed pad right at the top of the farm, amongst 170 year old Macrocarpa trees, and we'll winter on baleage. The calves will be up there too in a seperate pad in 3-4 weeks max.

@MauryJL @duncanyzf20 Do the maths. Bought at $85. Current price is $5.50x 23 kgs = $41 today. You would expect some lift in schedule I see it going to at least $6.50 surly. Confident we will Average over $60 per head. Time will tell
