Toronto Police Searching For Suspect In Thefts Targeting Elderly Victims Toronto police are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman wanted in connection with a series of distraction thefts that investigators say may be targeting elderly residents. According to police, the first incident occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at approximately 2:20 PM, in the area of Birchmount Road and Eglinton Avenue East. A man sitting in his vehicle was approached by two women who asked him for directions. While the victim was distracted, one of the women allegedly removed his gold necklace and replaced it with a fake before the pair fled the scene in a black SUV. A second incident was reported on Friday, April 17, 2026, around 12:30 PM , near Ellesmere Road and Wye Valley Road. In that case, a woman approached a victim walking in the area and engaged her in conversation before attempting to remove her gold chain. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the suspect fled in a black SUV. Police have identified one suspect as 37-year-old Victoria Miclescu of Toronto. She is wanted on charges of theft over $5,000 and attempted theft under $5,000. Police say there is currently no description available for the second woman involved in the April 5 incident. Investigators believe the suspect may be deliberately targeting elderly individuals and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
