The 4IR brings an Era where there will either be collaboration between the young, technology advanced generation and the old school generation, or the young will lead, while the old holds positions of power. #FutureTrendsInEdLeadership

@MileNgaka School leaders have no choice but to embrace technology as one of the intervention strategies for teaching and learning. It's no longer for Covid-19 purposes, but for the future too.

Can the 4IR be the solution we need to solve the problem of food insecurity in the world? More so in Africa where millions of children go to sleep on an empty stomach. They wake up in the morning to go to school the same. #FuturetrendsInEducationLeadership

@FABAT23 Unfortunately, teaching in SA has always been about achievement, the results. In fact, in SA education is judged by Gr 12 performance. The 4IR requires minds which are open to new learning and continued development.

We need a focus shift away from teaching towards learning, away from once-off achievement toward long term performance; "performances of understanding." #futuretrends

There is a strong argument that 4IR is a solution to the economic crisis we find our selves in. As oppose to job loses, it will bust the economy and create more jobs. Consequently, reversing the ills of poverty which are evident in our schools. #FuturetrendsInEducationLeadership

@Ms_Mrholozi The fact is that, every challenge presents an opportunity to learn. Hence the idea of "life long learning." If leaders are not willing to learn the new technological skills, they will soon be called a lost generation.

@GovenderSteffan It takes a transformative leader to recognize the vital role of communication in leadership. Communication displays the ability of a leader to listen and learn from those below him/her. It is a tool to access knowledge from every staff member as a mean of avoiding/solving problem

As the rate of unemployment increases uncontrollable due to covid-19. Some people in the labour circles believe that 4IR will lead to more job losses as the machines will take over from people. The High Court directed DBE to provide food to learners even when they are not coming to school. DBE has transferred this responsibility to school leaders. However, it seems it's a mountain to climb. What strategies can be put in place to address this?

@SibiyaVinto @FABAT23 That is why the development of infrastructure is one of the key things the government is advised to prioritize if we are to achieve the 4IR vision. The question is whether there is political will and resources to do so or not. What can school leaders do for the time being?

@Ms_Mrholozi The need for retraining of managers has been evident in the failure by some principals to attend virtual meetings. Not because they are defiant or do not want to attend, but they are unable to use technology. The 4IR points to technology as the main communication channels.
