What do you think about this? Some people have begun boycotting country singer Carrie Underwood after she expressed the view that children should not be exposed to cartoons with LGBTQ themes. She emphasized that kids ought to be brought up with traditional values and that adults should allow them to simply enjoy their childhood. I think Carrie is awesome, and absolutely RIGHT.

GUILTY VERDICT: In Oregon, rainwater falling on your own land doesn’t actually belong to you. Gary Harrington built 3 reservoirs on his 170-acre property to collect rainwater & snowmelt for fire protection. The state demanded he drain every drop. “All water belongs to us.” He refused. They hit him with 9 misdemeanors, jailed him for 30 days, and fined him more than $15,000. This is government claiming ownership of the sky.

Five hundred years ago, before tractors, fertilizers, and chemical herbicides, this continent produced more food than it does today. That is the argument @JoelSalatin brought to the People vs. Poison rally, and it reframes the entire debate. The question being asked in courtrooms and Congress is whether glyphosate and chemical agriculture are necessary. Salatin says that is the wrong question entirely. What we should be asking is what it would take to return this landscape to its pre-European productivity, and the answer has been sitting in the historical record the whole time. Hundreds of millions of bison roamed and grazed in patterns that naturally managed the land. Four hundred million beavers kept water spread across 8 to 10% of the landscape. Naturally lit fires cleared weak trees and created cathedral forests that grew massive, healthy, and spaced apart. The land held water, fed everything, and regenerated itself because the animals and the ecology were working together the way they were designed to. Modern industrial agriculture has reversed every single one of those principles. Animals and plants are segregated into monocultures. Water is drained and aquifers depleted. The best trees are taken, and the worst are left. The land is telling us what it thinks of this arrangement through soil dysfunction, superbugs, food allergies, and chronic disease. Glyphosate is one symptom of a much deeper assault on basic ecology, and removing it is only the beginning of what needs to happen.
