This is a great point - vision is often all that's needed for these industrial environments. + We've seen that visual context from RGB data is essential for eliminating false positives. The challenge isn't distinguishing if the obstacle exists, it's distinguishing what it is so the machine can operate safely: An autonomous excavator can run through a dirt pile, but the story changes when the obstacle is a crouched-over person. The problem with Lidar is that it looks the same on a blurry point cloud.
Bedrock Robotics@BedrockRobotics

An excavator tops out at 3 mph. A self-driving car on a highway needs to see hundreds of meters ahead at 65 mph. Our machines don't need anything close to that range, which means today's sensor technology already exceeds what we require. That margin translates directly into safety. Hear from Clayton Harper (Machine Learning Engineer), Will Grossman (Hardware Engineer), and Kenneth Hong (Hardware Systems Architect) on how the hardware ecosystem has caught up to the challenge of building for 80,000-pound machines on active job sites.

Maintaining stereo depth calibration in extreme environments just got easier. With DepthAI 3.5, we are introducing the AutoCalibration host node. This early developer release dynamically verifies and improves stereo alignment during runtime—no manual intervention needed. Enable it instantly with zero code changes: DEPTHAI_AUTOCALIBRATION=CONTINUOUS Or use the explicit Python/C++ API for full control. We are sharing this early so you can test it in high-vibration or variable-temp deployments. Try it out and share your feedback on GitHub to help us shape the final release. 🗞️Full Release: discuss.luxonis.com/blog/6759-auto…

@sama 1450s printer vibes: Grateful to the scribes who hand-copied books for centuries 🙏 as the scriptoria shut down. Worth it in the end, though. knowledge exploded, society leveled up.

I have so much gratitude to people who wrote extremely complex software character-by-character. It already feels difficult to remember how much effort it really took. Thank you for getting us to this point.

Three early stage robotic unicorns from last week(@rhoda_ai_, @sundayrobotics, Mind Robotics) 🦄🦄🦄 With all the noise around @AnthropicAI, it feels like the LLM frontier labs have solidified their impact, and the focus is shifting to physical AI. Does AGI need a body?

Sharing a super cool use case from our partners at @PixeeMedical, who’ve built an AR headset using OAK-1. Not only is the device sleek, but the operating room is one of the most challenging environments for computer vision, with reflective tools, harsh lighting, and zero margin for error. Super impressive work from the team. Insane to think OAK has guided surgeons in over 10,000 surgeries. I wonder how many more until that data can train a fully autonomous robot to do it. We've seen several startups come through our door @luxonis with this concept in the past weeks. Fast race to become the @scale_AI of Phsyical AI & Robotics. Becoming a billionare by 28 like @alexandr_wang is a good motivator I guess lol I'm definitely here for it. More data means more customers are scaling faster than ever with our tech + OAK is perfect for gathering this data

Human Archive builds datasets to model sensorimotor intelligence for robotics and world models. HA-Multi is the largest dataset of manual labor tasks aligning egocentric RGB, stereo depth (active IR), tactile gloves, body IMUs, and wrist cameras. Congrats on the launch, @babugi28, @shloke_patel, @samay_maini15, and @Rush26agarwal! ycombinator.com/launches/PeP-h…

Sharing our partner @dataguess, who integrates their no-code Inspector software directly into OAK 4 S to deliver an all-in-one, self-contained solution for streamlined quality assurance and industrial automation. As they put it: “We wanted an all-in-one, compact solution that could be easily deployed on the factory floor. Moving to RVC4 made that possible, delivering lower latency and strong real-time performance—even with larger models.

We just released LENS, our on-device Neural Stereo system built for OAK 4. Instead of hand-tuned stereo rules, LENS learns stereo correspondence directly from data, which translates to cleaner depth and far more stable behavior in real-world scenes like low texture, reflections, glare, and low light. The key part: it all runs fully on-device using OAK 4’s onboard compute: no cloud, no external GPU. Early testing shows LENS consistently delivering accuracy well beyond what you’d expect for its size and power envelope

Introducing OAK 4 + Luxonis Hub AI can only solve the problems it can see, and putting sensors, compute, and vision into the real world has always been the hard part. OAK 4 changes that. Powered by @Qualcomm, it delivers 52 TOPS on-device, runs multiple models in parallel, and works fully standalone with no host PC or cloud. With Luxonis Hub, you can deploy models, update apps, and manage devices remotely with zero setup. It’s time to see what you’ve been missing. Learn More: luxonis.com/oak4
