even if an Ethereum ETF is approved, the first iteration absolutely won't pay yield imo, nor will the ETH deposited in it be staked as frequently discussed here, staking is not a zero risk activity and exposes user deposits to possible slashing (low but manageable) and withdrawal risk (significant and unpredictable) seems like absolute no-go for an instrument which needs to be able to quickly buy and sell the ETH underlying it at-will in order to avoid tracking error
