And if many of these "honest" mistakes happen to benefit one team, then its just bad luck for the others. 😒 Its either deliberate or incompetence, in both cases Fifa has much to answer for this cups refereeship. The UPA killed around 100000 Polish citizens. In retaliation, the Polish Home Army killed around 15.000 Ukrainians in their territory. That enmity went back to the short but bitter war after WW1, when both sides tried to forge out their borders. Post WW2 the Soviets tended to just blame the Germans for all of it. Its 80 years ago, or longer. Time to acknowledge past mistakes and crimes - and make sure they will not happen again. Joining both in the EU is bound to make that border irrelevant over time - getting over old enmities is one of the reasons why it was created, and largely it works pretty good in that regard. Reinstalling the Irish border was the main obstacle when Britain left. Neither Poland nor Ukraine plan a war against each other. Work from there. Do not let Russias propaganda see yourself as enemies. Make sure there is peace in Ukraine by making Russia leave - by diplomacy if possible.

It is not OK to kill kids, nor is it OK to hide behind kids while fighting. The only way to stop this war is for Hamas to disarm and yield its political power, but for now they boast they will repeat the attacks of 7.10 as soon as they can. If Israel retreats today, with Hamas in power, the circle will repeat in a few years. The Palestinians who did not fight Israel in 1948 became citizens, from 150k back then to 2 million today, the only politically free Palestinians. Those countries who stopped fighting Israel got peace, like Jordan or Egypt. So if the Palestinians care for their kids, they must stop fighting Israel with the intend to exterminate it and accept a common peace. So must Israel, after Hamas has disarmed.

Blocking a player who controls the ball by moving there and then standing in his way is allowed by the rules. Doing that to a player without the ball is not. So when Messi sees someone in his path, he passes the ball away and rams him - and then gets the foul, if the referees are sufficiently impressed with the inability of the opponent not to transform into thin air. Naturally that should not be a foul, because the opponent did not do that deliberately, rather to the contrary (you are also not allowed to just run into somebody else without the ball). It is, however, a speciality of Messi.
