Some health update –– good news: my last CT scan came back clean again, as did the markers. It’s been three years since I finished chemo to treat testicular cancer, and I’m doing pretty well now. Feeling ready for the best part of the NBA season. ☘️ Every trip to the hospital is a bittersweet reminder of what I went through. Today’s visit was actually pretty smooth, so I’m thankful that it can get easier with time. And I have my next CT scan scheduled on the same day as Game 1 of this year's NBA Finals, so this one time I’m actually looking forward to that day. 😎 Guys, take care of yourselves and stay healthy. @robertgraham My honest interpretation of the text is a RealID is sufficient. If millions of Americans are kicked off the voter registration, then so be it. Our elections deserve to be better at any cost.

I wonder about abuse like this. I understand the frustration: so many people seem deficient in what's obvious to me. In this case, the person has read the SAVE Act, read the part that says "Real ID", and concludes I'm deficient for not having read it. That text says: "(1) A form of identification issued consistent with the requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005 that indicates the applicant is a citizen of the United States." The dispute, though, is about what this means. He thinks it means all Real ID is sufficient to register to vote. I think otherwise. A Real ID does not indicate citizenship, and is indeed given to non-citizens, and is not sufficient. What the text is referring is "Enhanced Real ID" that indicates citizenship status. Only 5 states issue such IDs, and not be default. Thus, 90% of the population cannot use their Real IDs (alone) to register to vote, change their registration, or challenge the state trying to purge the voter roles of people who have not proven their citizenship status. This is a problem that any AI will describe, such as @grok. Just ask them if Real ID is sufficient, or whether additional proof of citizenship is needed under the SAVE Act. Now, the AIs are often wrong, they only repeat what everyone is saying about the subect. But they can at least confirm that I have good reasons for my assertion "Real ID sin't sufficient", and the reason for believing this isn't simply because I have failed to read the bill. My point is that I understand this frustration with the grossly ignorant, such as those who haven't bothered to read the bill. But at the same time, consider the delicious irony when you are abusive and wrong, such as in this case. A simple query of AI would confirm whether a reasonable, educated person might believe such a thing, and whether your abuse is warranted.

Let me get this straight. The federal government held a legal auction for the right to build offshore wind farms. A company won those auctions fair and square, paying nearly a billion dollars into the U.S. Treasury. The projects went through years of review. Courts repeatedly upheld their legality. Everything was above board. Then the Trump administration tried five separate times to kill other wind projects in federal court and lost every single time. Judges reviewed the administration’s supposed “national security” justification and weren’t persuaded.  So now they’ve landed on a new plan: pay the company nearly ONE BILLION DOLLARS of your tax money to just walk away. Because, and I am not making this up, the president thinks offshore wind turbines are ugly and claims without evidence that they “drive whales crazy.”  He’s been nursing this petty grudge since 2012, when he tried to block a wind farm visible from his golf course in Scotland. Fourteen years later, American taxpayers are footing the bill for it. This is stupid policy. It’s fiscally reckless, strategically blind, and driven entirely by a personal vendetta rather than any coherent vision for American energy or competitiveness. Meanwhile, China is racing ahead, building offshore wind at a staggering pace and positioning itself to dominate the global clean energy economy for decades to come.
