We can't keep waiting for the world to bring industrial automation to Nigeria. We have to start building it ourselves.
After 300+ hours of non-stop fabrication, spending more than 5kg in material, and gathering hundreds of individual components, this is the foundation of a 6-axis robotic arm built entirely from scratch.
They say hardware is hard. Doing it here is even harder. But holding the pieces of what this could become is a feeling I can't quite describe. Let's see if all the math was right. Assembly begins tomorrow.

From @HammerOfWar5 we have the Deputy Chairman of AFNM displaying a FPV drone in Ethiopia. The drone is on a Mark4 V2 10 inch frame set up for OWA w/ an after market GPS mount & camera mount. Also displayed is a laptop w/ Ardupilot’s Mission Planner clearly showing Ethiopia.

Terra Industries' co-founders @_KingNath and @Max_Sengu understood something earlier than most: AI had started to decouple capability upgrades from hardware manufacturing cycles. Today, we hosted 61 senior officers from the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) at our headquarters in Abuja.
They observed live demonstrations of our unmanned aerial and ground systems, engaged our engineers, and discussed the future of Nigeria’s domestic defence-industrial base.

“Over the past year, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and his aides have spoken frequently of the need to attain self-sufficiency in defense equipment production.
Tinubu’s defense minister said in January that the country was pushing to “ensure that all required defense and security equipment are produced locally,” ending imports “in two to five years’ time.”

6 months ago, I built this robotic lawnmower 😂. The goal was to learn more about robotics and improve my skills and learn how to use direct drive brushless actuators which was better than stepper motors or brushed DC geared motors 🙂.

Africa is reindustrializing. Robotics companies are being built and autonomous systems are being deployed. Would gladly work with designers for interfaces that make all of it actually work. It’s a bore to do it internally sometimes. This is an entire career sitting unclaimed.
