Today I stood in solidarity with the hardworking traders of Gikomba whose livelihoods have been unjustly disrupted. These are men and women who wake up before dawn, who toil every day to provide for their families and keep our local economy alive. Despite obtaining court orders to protect their businesses, their premises were still demolished. This is not just a violation of the law; it is a violation of dignity, trust, and justice. We cannot build a fair society if the rule of law is ignored, especially at the expense of ordinary citizens. I stand firmly with the Gikomba traders in demanding accountability, respect for court orders, and protection of their rights. Their struggle is our struggle. Their resilience is our inspiration. This is another unnecessarily regulated area. RPL costs 150k, exclusive of medical. This is for the Basic Multi-rotor rating. Without specializations like LIDAR mapping, Thermal imaging, and 3D Modelling. If you need to specialize with survey grade aircrafts, you will be paying more. You need daily flight permits from KCAA for every day you will be flying, ata kama ni 12-minute mission. The drone needs to be registered and have active insurance. Lately, if flying within some areas in Nairobi, you need to be accompanied by military personnel from the Kenya Air Force, na lazima utawachotea. The opposition is having a field day ranting about demolitions, but like every day, they have no alternative to the problems. This country cannot develop if leaders keep choosing popular opinion or making decisions out of fear of losing the electorate. It is totally unfair for a government to treat its people like we witnessed last night at Gikomba Market, Nairobi. I condemn this inhuman and beastly treatment in the strongest terms possible. Thousands of Traders, and other small scale traders have had their properties and items worth millions of Shillings destroyed in a night of a cowardly government raid for what covertly is a political scheme. It shall be remembered that when we campaigned for this regime in the run-up to the 2022 General Elections, we promised, and made a firm undertaking that never shall we destroy property and do forceful displacementof and eviction of people, and never do so at night. It shall further be remembered that one of the charges of the illegal impeachment on me was my refusal and defying illegal and inhuman orders from Mr. William Ruto to carry out forceful evictions and night raids on the people of Kenya. Mr. William Ruto, we understand your frustration with Kenyans resolve on WANTAM clarion. The red-eyed Pharaoh cannot hear anyone anymore; Doesn't care about human life anymore. Doesn't care about the small scale farmer or the small scale business people anymore. Only cartels matter and big corrupt corporates and oligarchy. Just how inhumane can this administration be? The same one that campaigned on the backs of Mama Mboga. Last night, as the public was being distracted with talk of a non-existent arrest of the governor, something far more real was happening. Traders at Gikomba Market were being pushed out, their stalls demolished and their livelihoods disrupted without any consideration to their welfare or dignity. These are hardworking Kenyans who wake up every day to hustle, to feed their families and to keep this city alive. Today, they are counting losses, confused and left wondering where to turn. If this action was justified, why carry it out in the dead of night? Why not do it in broad daylight, openly and in the presence of the public and the media? We need a government that is responsible, humane and respectful. One that puts people and their dignity first. And now more than ever, Nairobi needs a New Deal.
