Speaking of Scott Pilgrim I saw the live action movie when I was a kid and I thought it was absolutely confusing. I didn’t know what was going on half the time I was watching it and I’ve never read the comics before but I doubt they’re any better than the film.

I'm pretty sure there are characters in the story who've done worse than Scotty there. Like a few who've done kidnapping, possibly rape and psychological torture. Plus, he lives in the shit hole tundra named Canada, where the age of consent is sadly 16... no, seriously, look it up. And if I remember correctly Best girl did the same to second Best Girl and nobody bats an eye to it, so... which is it?

The dialogue is so bad. 🥴I was cringing so hard in the theater. And it’s not so much that “this makes Black women look bad” as much as the dialogue felt too contrived: under-researched, unconfirmed, false-imagining of what Black women radical activists would actually do and say.
