warning to women: a friend had a mammogram that required follow-up with an MRI-directed mammogram / something called a "needle biopsy." it was administered without anesthesia & was the most excruciating pain she'd ever endured; she vomited, fainted, could not continue. curtly she was told "we don't do anesthesia for this procedure."

@meganysta @torontolibrary Wow. That’s just horrifying. I’m so sorry this happened. I can’t imagine refusing a child asking for help use of a phone - let alone then sending them back out into the world on their own.

My 11 year old got lost and asked for help at a library. They told her she couldn't call her mom from the phone and should use a payphone. She said she didn't know how. They said they couldn't help and she ended up crying alone on the street corner @torontolibrary

@RobertMSterling Montessori teacher. 👈🏼 I would ‘help’ the toddler clean up hand-over-hand, then matter of factly leave with the child, fireman carry, if necessary (this would be for my own child) Use a calm voice to explain that I understand that they don’t want to but this is not a choice.

My wife is in the middle of a Mexican standoff in the church nursery. Our two year old got mad and threw a cup of animal crackers on the floor. My wife refuses to leave until she picks them up. My daughter refuses to clean up until we promise her a cake pop and Bluey at home. My wife (former Marine) is the most stubborn mom on the planet. My daughter (personality of an ISIS prison guard) will happily scream for hours on end. I just dropped off a peppermint mocha for my wife. She’s digging in and playing the long game. Our pastor offered to broker a truce, but he left when the toddler hurled an elephant cookie at him, grumbling that our denomination doesn’t pay well enough to deal with situations like this (which is totally fair). Will keep everyone apprised. If there are any hostage negotiators here with experience defusing toddler meltdowns, please reach out.
