what should someone do with this space?

My trauma did NOT make me stronger. It did however, give me emotions I didn’t no how to deal with, gave me cptsd, sleepless night, made me very vulnerable. Made me believe no1 was trust worthy. Made every relationship I had extremely difficult. And almost fucking killed me. Trauma did not make me stronger. It almost destroyed me. And I’m very lucky to be alive.

I used to hate AA. Because I refused to accept that I’m an alcoholic/addict. I wasn’t ready to stop. I tried on my own. Always failed. I finally had enough and went to rehab. Got out and got a sponsor and did the steps. Been sober since 02/08/21. 🙏 #RecoveryPosse

In a meeting today: how did your 9th step amends go and what did you learn? I think everyone in 12 step recovery that has listed amends has included those that they "have harmed" through their actions. But, is that really a "searching and fearless" list? What about the times I harmed others by my lack of action? They helped me and I ghosted them. I selfishly and willingly used other people's generosity and good nature. All the times people helped me without asking as an act of kindness or just a nice gesture in my life and I didn't appreciate it or even offer a simple "thank you". I had one good friend in my teens and early twenties that was like this. He literally saved my life on multiple occasions by preventing me from getting in trouble, driving, talked cops out of arresting me and kept me from getting my ass beat to death by someone I provoked with my whiskey strength. I sent this person a email. I thanked him for being my friend even though I didn't reciprocate. I thanked him for saving my life. I told him that I couldn't change the past. But I wanted him to know that his actions allowed me to become the man I am today. His actions helped me to realize I had a problem. I wanted him to know that I was grateful for his kindness at that time in my life. I told him I didn't expect him to reply. I just wanted to thank him. "I got a return email. He told me there was no need for thanks or forgiveness. We are all just an accumulation of our mistakes and I've made my fair share too." Remember those that helped you when you were in your disease and blinded by selfishness.

An intimate, magical wedding ceremony in our backyard followed by a joyous reception…ohhhh the dancing!! We are immensely grateful to all for making it a day and a night to remember. Honeymoon here we come!
