@queenie4rmnola the context being Louisiana was bought in 1803, still a territory, not a state. The enslaved of this uprising had not been in the US colonies for 100s of years, they were there <10yrs, after the fall of S-D . So they actually weren't the same as those enslaved in US.

People in the south are not confused about our connection to the Caribbean. Indeed, after the Haitian Revolution, 10,000 moved to New Orleans. The largest enslaved people’s uprising in America happened in 1811, by a Haitian Creole man. Same African people. Different stops.
