The only regret I have about using my platform to oppose the Iranian regime is that I didn't start doing it sooner

Iran's regime recently executed four political prisoners in just two days. It's clear that the regime is using the chaos of this ongoing conflict to accelerate its repression. I refuse to look away from what's happening to Iranian civilians seeking a better, freer life. We need a real plan that helps them achieve this, not a war that leaves the same hard-line regime in place.

I cannot think of worse messaging. This is a gift to the Iranian regime. The Iranian president referenced it in his letter today for a reason.

Dear @POTUS “Blast the REGIME back to the stone age.” Please distinguish between the regime and the Iranian people, most of whom despise the regime. Thank you for your attention to this distinction.

You weren’t around when we rose from nothing and built one of the world’s great civilizations. Watch your language when you speak about the people of Iran. As for the Islamic Republic, the Ayatollahs, and the IRGC, be our guest, and take them back to the Big Bang! If you can. We will be happy to see them wipe off the earth, and we definitely thank you for it. But respect the people of Iran. Don’t lose your allies.

In fact the part that is being blasted to stone ages is the occupying force, the repressive islamic regime, its strongholds and terror infrastructure. Therefore, many Iranians like myself are quite happy to see the muslim occupiers of stone ages get blasted back to where they belong.

Blasting Iran “back to the stone ages” will not ring kindly to the Iranian people who Trump claimed the war was intended in part to save from their government.

@jimsciutto Iranian here who is pro war against the regime, but I have to agree. If the US loses the support of Iranians the war will be harder on them. The diaspora will march in the streets but this time against Trump and its madness. Our patience is wearing thin.
