Thank you, Chicago for the opportunity to serve as Mayor these past 8 years. I am grateful for all we accomplished together, humbled by the faith you put in me, and in awe of the Chicagoans I have been lucky enough to meet and work with at every step on this journey.

Chicago is a strong, proud city with big shoulders and big dreams. Serving the people of our great city has truly been the honor of a lifetime.

7 years ago our City’s support for mentoring didn’t exist. Today, there are over 7,200 young men in 8th, 9th, & 10th grades who have a mentor. I’ve seen the power of @YG_Chicago’s programs firsthand & I want to thank everyone who answered the call to be a role model for our kids.

Proud to share that Chicago’s “Garfield Green” proposal has won @C40Cities‘ “Reinventing Cities” competition to combat #climatechange. “Garfield Green,” aims to revitalize 1.5 acres of vacant land in East Garfield Park as sustainable, mixed-income housing and related public uses.

Construction is underway on the Shop & Save grocery store coming to South Shore, which will help address a food desert and create jobs in the neighborhood. Proud to see it coming to life after 5 years of hard work with the community.
