“Medical expertise” devoid of social justice, while working in our complex system, is an abdication of responsibility to our patients.
Surprised by the outrage around this statement as all it does is highlight this important fact.

I have taken care of patients with SCD who experience structural racism daily, had a patient labelled ‘low GCS’ because they didn’t speak English, and took care of a malnourished patient who could not afford food in Toronto.
