Just in case you don’t know why they’ve denied Wahi entry to Canada.
He was arrested 3 weeks ago in France for match fixing.
In the game against Metz last month, so many people placed a bet on him to get a yellow card, and he did get a yellow card in the first half. It was reported as a suspicious activity.
I wonder how these footballers do not know that these bet companies work with regulators, this is wrong and stupid at the same time.
After the play off game with St Etienne, where he scored a brace, police were waiting for him and they arrested him afterwards.
He’s been accused of organised fraud, money laundering, amongst many other things, but he was just questioned and released that day, so he can meet up with the Ivory Coast squad for the World Cup.
He has not been charged yet, so I’m not sure why Canadian immigration has denied him, but I’m sure the French authorities are preparing the charges, he most likely won’t escape it.

They both didn’t get each other. Don’t make it a Henry issue.
Henry and Zidane played 55 games together before Zidane assisted him for the first time, and that was in that 2006 World Cup game against Brazil. It was a setpiece.
They never hit it off on the pitch. Henry wanted a Bergkamp, Zidane wanted a Ronaldo. They both had different tastes in creators and strikers. Henry loved combination play and fast releases. Zidane wanted to dazzle before he releases you to do the rest.
Henry wants to run into space. He’s expecting the pass asap.
It was a case of two extremely gifted footballers not just being stylistically compatible. It’s not a Henry-only case as you’ve made it seem. Henry was also BEGGING for a midfielder who could play him in quickly. He enjoyed playing with Youri Djorkaeff.

I’ve never been about that Messi/Ronaldo divide. I enjoyed both players at their very best.
I respect Messi because he is just a pure wizard. The things he does with the ball are simple yet sweet. They’re things you watch and think, I can replicate this, but no, you can’t. He’s Messi. He doesn’t do too much to achieve so much. It’s like a man mastering his art in every way. He feels football.
There are actions Messi does very consistently. Like moving to the left and finding the left runner. He does it all the time. Like the reverse passes. He does it all the time. Like the feints. He does it always. It’s not about not seeing the move before you, it’s about not being able to stop what is going to happen. He’s a wizard.
Ronaldo is a machine. He’s so talented at everything especially looking after himself. You don’t shoot that accurately if you’re not a machine. You don’t head the ball that hard if you don’t process processes way before eventualities. You don’t pop up to opportunities if every part of your body isn’t active. He smells chances and takes his body there. His ability to arrive is the best ever in football.
And he can pass too. He focused on his core strengths and mastered them to a tee. It’s why he’s so successful.
The man who’d appreciate Ronaldo the best is Messi, because only he understands what it means to be at that level, in that position. There’s no as and like with the two of them from anyone else in football. You can’t chat to them.

For Portugal to achieve their objectives, one of two things must happen.
One, other players must be ready to play for Ronaldo, give it their all and very best while knowing he’s 41, not 31. His legs are gone. He’s not as sharp. I don’t think there’s any serious opposition they’ll face that’ll work too hard on cancelling Ronaldo out. Others have to step up. He’s had his day.
Two, Ronaldo must be ready to be left out of the team without being salty about it. That could help lift the mood of the group. If he’s starting and isn’t trusted enough because he’s just physically declined, then it’s better he stays out of the team altogether and, come in as a sub.
I’m not certain there’s still a team in the world that’ll see Ronaldo on the sidelines preparing to come on and won’t have something shift in their heads. He’s Ronaldo for a reason. One of the greatest footballers ever.
The World Cup has shown how much things have closed up. We will see some wide scoring margins, still, but the gap between the good teams and others has shrunken.

My opinion on Portugal.
Roberto Martinez will have blood on his hands if Portugal exits the World Cup early.
Secondly, the big Portuguese players did not step up. I’m trying to make excuse for Vitinha, maybe because he’s had a long season. He did not step up.
Bruno did not step up. Joao Neves was their best player today, and he also put them ahead.
Ronaldo had two good chances but fumbled it, overall I can’t blame him much because the whole team was not good. I understand the coach leaving him on because they needed a goal.
How is Tomas Araujo and Renato Veiga the starting CBs?
