@MimiMefoInfo What would be in his interest going to Bamenda? Would he be going to count the number of people his war has killed and displaced or would it be to explore more ways to destroy. All he needs to do at this point is to #endthewar.

The president has proven wrong the people who speak in his name. Prior to the Pope's visit, some English-language newspapers tried to give the impression that the Holy Pontiff was coming to further Paul Biya's peace efforts in the Northwest and Southwest. However, Biya proved them wrong, indicating that he hadn't sent them. In his speech at the Unity Palace, Biya didn't mention the armed conflict in the Northwest and Southwest regions. The word "peace" appeared only three times in his speech, and he was talking about global issues. For someone whom the papers claimed was leading the peace efforts for the Pope to follow and strengthen, he should have done something to show he was interested in peace returning to the Northwest and Southwest. Compared to the Pope’s speech, the word "peace" was mentioned 16 times. He called the Northwest and Southwest by name. He traveled to Bamenda, but Biya remained at Etoudi. Meanwhile, according to the papers, the Pope was furthering Biya's peace efforts. So, Biya's outings only prove that people move around to proclaim things in his name, while he is not aware of them. #MMINews #PaulBiya #PopeLeo #AnglophoneCrisis

Allegations in Cameroon’s North West region are raising serious concerns about the safety of minors, following claims of possible military involvement in the sexual abuse of students in Lassin. In a formal complaint to authorities, the principal of Saint Joseph Catholic College, Rev. Fr. Paul Verla, details allegations that a local man was facilitating access to underage girls for soldiers stationed in the area. “He was the person taking the children… to the soldiers… who were sexually abusing them,” the principal wrote. Rev. Fr. Verla, acting in his capacity as head of the institution, also recounts a specific incident in which a student reportedly disappeared from the dormitory, alleging he saw the suspect flee with her on a motorcycle. The student later returned and is reportedly pregnant. The formal nature of the complaint and the authority of the source have intensified concerns about child protection, accountability, and the conduct of security forces in schools in conflict-affected regions. Authorities have yet to respond, and given their history of turning a blind eye to abuse, they might not do so. Read more: buff.ly/Z1LXCao #MMINews

The Chairman of the African Union, who is the President of Burundi, General Évariste Ndayishimiye, is currently in Burkina Faso for a working visit. The Burkina Faso presidency stated that the visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) and the African Union. As part of the agenda, the AU Chairman will visit socio-economic infrastructures in the landlocked country. Although the AU has not yet released a statement, Burkina Faso appears to be focusing more on AU-AES relations rather than solely on bilateral ties between Burkina Faso and Burundi. #MMINews #AES #AfricanUnion

The attack took place as the soldiers were returning to their base from a routine patrol, when gunmen riding on a motorbike opened fire on them and killed the officer instantly. Akoni Ferdinand, who is a native of Njang in the Njinikejem village of Belo Subdivision, is the latest victim of hit and run attacks in the North West Region as military authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident. #MMINews

@JustAdaugoijele I literally experienced this last night. My friend is a priest from Cameroon, and he has his 10 yr ordination anniversary Mass that I attended. It was like the Catholic Church mixed with southern Baptist in a lion king movie. It was crazy!

@wandafu7 The Archbishop and the Pope should be able to convince a fellow Catholic Christian (the head of state) the war in #SouthernCameroons is awry and fruitless .. no? What is next should not be that difficult ~ the government should call for a ceasefire, dialogue, and accountability.

Breaking News: A Cameroonian Air Force soldier has been killed in an Ambazonia separatist attack in Bambui, in the country’s North West Region, according to local and security sources. The soldier, identified as Belibi Nkoa, was part of the 2024 military intake and served with the Air Rifle Battalion at Air Base 501 in Bamenda. He was reportedly on a special detachment in nearby Bambili at the time of the attack. Belibi Nkoa had completed his training at the Instruction Centre of Air Base 201 before being deployed to BAFUSAIR, linked to Air Base 501. It is reported that government forces captured one of the Ambazonia separatist fighters following the attack. Details surrounding the attack remain limited, but it is the latest in a series of deadly incidents targeting security forces in the region. The killing comes less than 24 hours after another soldier was reported dead in a separate incident in Ndop, highlighting ongoing insecurity in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions, where clashes between government forces and separatist fighters have persisted for years. #MMINews

@CMRNewsAgency Good if his intent of flying Camair to Bamenda was for promoting the airlines. Could it be his aircraft was too big for that airport? 🤷🏾

POPE LEO PATRONIZES CAMAIRCO DISTRUSTED BY CAMEROONIANS As I stood at the Bamenda Airport watching Pope Leo wave at the crowds on the tarmac, I couldn’t help noticing that he had flown to Bamenda aboard a Camairco plane. I witnessed the moment the giant Boeing plane touched down and at the end of the visit, I also saw the Pope walk up the stairs of the plane, turn around and wave at the crowds before take-off. I began to wonder why the Pope trusted our own national airline to fly him into a zone considered the flashpoint of clashes between separatists and soldiers, while we Cameroonians instead hate (or distrust) the airline with a passion. It was very clear that the Pope’s decision to visit Bamenda and to do so on board our national carrier – was all a symbolic message. He was acknowledging the legitimate grievances of the Anglophone Cameroonian while telling all Cameroonians that Cameroonian products and services (including our mistrusted Camairco) are also worthy of consumption by the world’s most influential Christian leader. I have been one of the people advocating for Cameroonians to patronize Camairco because I have seen the skepticism from Cameroonians who jokingly refer to Camairco planes as “flying coffins”. Camairco has an impeccable safety record and has not had a single crash since its creation. So why do Cameroonians fear it so much or distrust its planes and staff? If the Pope himself trusts Camairco enough to fly on one of its planes, what excuse do Cameroonians have for not trusting their own planes and their own pilots? – Hans Ngala is CNA Political Affairs Editor. He covered the Pope’s visit from Bamenda. He is an aviation enthusiast who previously served as communications consultant for Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in Chad. #cameroonnewsagency

@MimiMefoInfo To the AB, while speaking to the separatists, go to the source of the chaos and mayhem, the Cameroun government. You should be calling on the cpdm to #cease and #withdraw. Let’s not gloss over or forget accountability for the cruelty and trauma inflicted.

Many Cameroonians are asking what has changed with the pope's visit. Fair question. But change is a process, not a one-off event. The Pope has just launched the first step of a series of events that will lead to long-lasting change in Cameroon. Listen to how Archbishop Andrew Nkea puts this in context. #MMINews

CAMEROON 🇨🇲 Pope Leo XIV has encouraged young people in Cameroon NOT to emigrate but to stay and improve their country: 'in the face of the understandable tendency to migrate — which may lead one to believe that elsewhere a better future may be more easily found — I invite you, first and foremost, to respond with an ardent desire to serve your country and to apply the knowledge you are acquiring here to the benefit of your fellow citizens. This is the raison d’être of your university, founded thirty-five years ago to form pastors of souls and lay people committed to society: these are the witnesses of wisdom and justice, of which the African continent needs'
