Salma was 18 when she lost a childhood friend and close relative to AMR and pneumonia. This motivated her to pursue a research career. Salma’s project is investigating resistance to zinc toxicity in S. pneumoniae. #WAAW #AntimicrobialResistance

The CARB-X Team are developing a world-first treatment for antibiotic-resistant bacterial pneumonia. PBT2 breaks resistance by harnessing the body’s own zinc to intoxicate the bacterium, restoring the efficacy of frontline antibiotics and protecting these life-saving drugs. 💊
