Sharing our work showing that Helicobacter pylori induces the production of interleukin-37 by epithelial cells to promote broad immunosuppression, enhance colonisation and promote pathogenesis. Big few weeks with #PENFAST making it to Hollywood 🎥… but this might be even better 👇 The @ProspectorTrial #PROSPECTOR1 Trial led by @Austin_Health and @TheDohertyInst is now published in @NEJMEvidence 🔥 ➡️ evidence.nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… ✅ First double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in #drugallergy ✅ Pilot feasibility RCT (n=120) ✅ Single-dose vs 5-day amoxicillin challenge in delayed/unknown #penicillinallergy It was feasible and safe — and showed a 6.7% increase in immune-mediated reactions in the (multi-dose) arm. Nice Editorial: ➡️ evidence.nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… We’re getting closer to answering the question… Is one dose ever enough? 👀 #PROSPECTOR2 now recruiting (doi: 10.1136/bmjopen-2024-094712)

A new way to tackle antibiotic‑resistant infections. Researchers have engineered antibodies that target pseudaminic acid — a sugar found only on bacterial cells — helping the immune system precisely identify and destroy drug‑resistant bacteria. bit.ly/45PSbVx

With Nipah making headlines again, it’s important to ask: what are the facts? Nipah virus is not new, cases remain limited, and outbreaks over the past two decades have been closely managed. In public health, following the facts matters. 🔗 bit.ly/4qXDU1l

Exhausted T cells and TRM cells may look alike, but a new study finds key differences across cancers that could impact immunotherapy. One recognises tumour “tags,” the other reflects past infections, like flu, and must be deliberately engaged. bit.ly/3M365Ni

A little behind on the HPAI tweets owing to being in Antarctica. A real privilege to be able to visit this incredible part of the world, but sadly, to better understand the ecology of this devastating virus.
