🔥 Savarkar’s Amnesty Truth: Congress Has Been Lying All Along 🔥 For decades, Congress and its supporters have propagated the lie that Vinayak Damodar Savarkar begged for mercy from the British. The truth is far different and far braver. Savarkar’s 1911–1920 petitions were not pleas for personal leniency (“mercy”) they were calls for amnesty for all political prisoners, a principled stand against injustice. Mercy vs. Amnesty •Mercy implies a personal appeal: “Spare me, release me, forgive me.” •Amnesty is collective and principled: “Release all prisoners of conscience, treat them humanely, uphold justice.” Savarkar’s petitions fall squarely in the second category. He was not asking for himself, but advocating for the rights and welfare of fellow freedom fighters. He explicitly wrote: “I earnestly pray that all political prisoners may be granted amnesty and relieved from unnecessary suffering. I submit this petition not for myself, but for my fellow freedom fighters who have sacrificed for the nation. If the Government thinks that I pen this only to effect my own release; or if my name constitutes the chief obstacle in the granting of such an amnesty, then let the Government omit my name in their amnesty and release all the rest; that would give me as great a satisfaction as my own release would do.” This line is crystal clear: Savarkar put fellow freedom fighters above himself, prioritizing justice over personal gain. The Reality of His Imprisonment Savarkar endured years of harsh confinement in the Andaman Cellular Jail, facing extreme isolation, brutal labor, and systematic oppression. Even in such conditions, his focus remained on the release and welfare of fellow political prisoners. Congress propaganda tries to paint him as weak and self-serving, twisting “amnesty” into “mercy” to mislead the public. But history cannot be erased: the petitions reflect moral courage, clarity, and patriotism, not personal appeal. The Truth Savarkar never sought mercy for himself. He sought justice and relief for all who suffered under colonial oppression. If that meant letting the government omit his name to free others first, he was ready. That is heroism, not submission. Congress lies, history doesn’t. Savarkar’s legacy is courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to India’s freedom for all, not for self.
