This Week In GSL History 1985 40 Years Ago AAA State Semifinal In their biggest game of the season, what does a respected wishbone triple-option offense like Gonzaga Prep do in the snow? Turn to the air, of course. The Bullpups did exactly that in a 28–21 victory over South Kitsap at Joe Albi Stadium. The Wolves from Port Orchard, led by Spokane native and Shadle Park alum Ed Fisher, took a 21–14 lead into halftime after their defensive front & linebackers came out firing, slowing down the G-Prep rushing attack. But sparked by 4 forced fumbles, the Bullpup defense shutout South Kitsap in the 2nd half and leaned on their passing game to score the final 21 points to complete the comeback.   #81 Jason Pulliam hauled in 2 of those 3 touchdown passes, including the leaping game-winner with 2:41 remaining in the 4th. Pulliam finished with 4 catches for 105 yards, making several difficult grabs in the snow, but none bigger than his athletic 33-yard leap, spin, and score on a halfback pass from Tom Corbett. In the game, Prep’s offensive breakdown was: 150 yards passing and 146 rushing as they outgained the Wolves 296 to 285.   On a slick astroturf surface like Albi, where footing was uncertain, kicker Thayne Doyle calmly converted all 4 extra-point attempts.
