Let me explain 1) Political pressure hasn’t been strong enough for trump to pivot on tariffs until now. Marjorie Taylor Greene stepping down is the beginning of a political storm no president wants to endure. Conservatives responding with praise to her resignation and statement. This is the first domino to fall in his eyes just because it directly affects his ability to operate as he pleases 2) The Judicial Branch Supreme Court ruling is due on tariffs by the end of the year. The odds of upholding the tariffs are ~25% across prediction markets. My stance is that the prediction markets are incredibly mispriced. They should be closer to 5% and that’s being generous. Just do some research on the Supreme Court justices. This shit is already long enough as it is 3) Costume Politics He has a window from now til Dec 10th (FOMC) to save his sinking ship. He’s doing photo ops with Mamdani. He’s already rolled back multiple essential food tariffs with South American countries. To top it all off, he’s dressing like Joe Biden. Costume politics won’t save his sinking ship but his advisors will say front-running the Supreme Court ruling could and he will be forced to run that play (his only one left imo) 4) Patience Being reluctant to pile in after a slaughter fest is wise. Assets can still go down a lot more from here and anyone who says otherwise is naive. This idea hinges on one man’s ego. My bet is that he’s willing to do anything to preserve his legacy and the prices of his and his counterparty’s assets. Tariff rollbacks hypothetically kill two birds with one stone. He doesn’t become “the president who maniacally drove the US into a recession” and asset prices go up if he rolls back tariffs as it all but guarantees a rate cut in December. Bidding with patience is my approach from here. I see a 2-4 week window that offers asymmetrical upside and if it doesn’t happen then who cares, just don’t lose it all. God bless
