The excise tax is administered by the CRA and is not under the purview of Health Canada.

These issues were not considered in the current proposed regulatory amendments as they were deemed to be outside of the scope of amendments proposed to streamline and reduce the administrative and regulatory burden without impacting the overall public health and public safety.

We are disheartened by this! Stakeholders also provided feedback on increasing or removing the federal adult possession limit, reducing, or removing the annual regulatory fee, changing the excise tax and the access to cannabis for medical purposes program.
