@MedaTahu there have been multiple really big bear markets in the US over the past century, in both price and time, and in none of them did cigarettes becomes as expensive as Rolex's. Get out of hypotheticals and look at real market history.

It's not difficult to see how we're going to end up with the worst bear market in a century. Retail (and most institutional) is wholly convinced that markets only go up and dips never last more than a few months. Combine that with the fact that the fed is absolutely going to fumble the ball and amplify the next downturn, and you pretty much have the making for a bear market that will exceed anything anyone alive today has ever witnessed. I've been forcing myself to get out of the max risk mindset, and adopt a more capital preservation mindset, because I'd rather do it now while I have the choice at market highs than do it by force down the road when markets are already down 50-75%.
