@shahrukh_bakar @DavidLBrownMD While I don’t agree with his point in the slightest as it will be an ever changing wheel of leadership based upon racial/ethnic/gender makeup, I do think that if that was the goal it would have to be a systemic change as his single position would matter little by itself.

@DavidLBrownMD Since I am not exactly holding my breath for this to happen, I would suggest that it is this kind of false social justice ‘activism’ that distracts from the true issue at hand. It is hypocritical since you are militating for others to do what you will not do yourself.

Nah. You're a physician and should absolutely know better that the immune system is vastly complex & simple statements abt staying away from processed foods making it fx better in the middle of an infectious dz crisis that we don't understand how to treat at all is irresponsible.

@Steph_MS3 @londyloo @pskantesaria Do you blanket memorize things as a physician or do you want to practice clinic/hospital care? Obviously one does preclude the other but without the former the latter will never happen either. The change won’t be that big of a deal.

@londyloo @pskantesaria but many programs do, and they often like to see an improvement between the two. That’s an opportunity that will no longer exist with these changes.

Hearing the USMLE will move to be pass/fail is a win for medical students. My experience with STEP 1 was incredibly demoralizing, and I hope with the movement to pass/fail, we can move away from blanket memorization & buzzwords, & back to meaningful pre-clinical education.

I could only afford to do it by the luck of my reselling side business which in itself is a mess as it requires capital that I had to use part of my loans for.

A girl who got an almost perfect score on the mcat told me about the prep class she swears by, and it’s $10,000. They put you in an exercise group and make you work out together, live in dorms, eat prescribed meals, and have an enforced bedtime. Rich pre-meds are not okay.....

When artificial intelligence can easily recreate people’s words and images and impersonate them, people will just say, “Oh, it’s a joke! It’s a meme! Ok, boomer!” Then it’s too late.

My coresident wanted to use the ultrasound to check for globe rupture in a trauma patient and I thought, what would @DGlaucomflecken do? So I smacked the ultrasound out of his hand and told him to never try to pull that debauchery ever again.

I fucking love that we still have poster sessions. That people are happy to print research on giant paper & travel thousands of miles at great expense to hang it on a wall, stand next to it, & explain it to strangers who accidentally make eye contact with you as they wander past.
