Found out today that I'm for sure inheriting this place from my aunt and uncle. It needs some sprucing up in places but that's half the joy, the perfect way to teach my son two dozen different skills then leave it and its 13 acres to him mortgage-free.

I didn’t have a floor at all in one of the 8 rooms in my house and possums would get into my bedroom sometimes. 😆 We had no insulation, no overhead lighting, and there was a hole in my wall for years straight to outside (but it was small). We didn’t have paint on the walls just primer and had a clothesline outside and inside for drying clothes. No central heat and air. Still the best childhood ever.

I agree. I didn’t need the Spice Girls to tell me I could do anything. It felt performative to me even at 9. I went hunting, fishing, went to school for collision repair, worked as a small engine mechanic, won welding competitions and joined the army…the fact that girls were told you can’t play soccer when there were tens of thousands like me is asinine.

The gaslighting is crazy. As a child in the 90s and into 2000s, we were supported and encouraged in every way. Not only were we told we could do anything, but we should do everything. The amount of resources and help for us seemed limitless. It was boys who were belittled, dismissed and put on the back burner. That’s why we have a crisis today.

I've seen this for a few days now, and I just want you all to know that if shit hits the fan, you better move to and join region 4. I'm not bragging. I'm just being practical. You should be, too. Straight southern rednecks live in these parts. Even black people are rednecks around here. I love you region 6, but it is what it is.
