Similar to the Portraits of an AI-Ready Student and Educator we created this spring at @DCGDistrict! We connected AI readiness to the core values from our strategic plan as part of our effort to support thoughtful, human-centered AI use for students and educators. #ISTELive

@Rdene915 @ISTE_ASCD I’m using a lot of AI, and I want to show my students what I’m doing and how to model ethical and responsible use. This can help with the transparency of usage of these tools. It isn’t going away, and students need to learn these skills, and everything else we ask them to learn.

@Integr8This Student podcasts and game-based learning are two areas that I am trying to become more proficient in. Any suggestions to point me in the right directions on where to start?

@Integr8This This is an important distinction. The phrase “just because you can doesn’t mean you should” comes to mind. My campus struggles with an all or nothing technology approach, and I hope that we invest more in intentional use of technology when it makes sense, not just because we can.

@coolcatteacher When and how should I use Plaud or something like it with Claude versus Socrait? I am really interested in trying something like this out, but I feel a little overwhelmed by all the choices for tools like this.

@coolcatteacher I have been considering investing in one of these Voice AI tools to support better teacher notes and resources as well as potentially making study guide style resources or even support translation needs. Any suggestions?

@LumioSocial @ISTE_ASCD Sadly not at ISTE, but I want to know more about these tools. Where should I start? Are these interactive activities or AI generated to be used in a multitude of ways? Super curious.

@WeVideo @TaraMartinEDU @edtechbobby Sometimes as teachers I know we can get frustrated when things are not working out the way we hoped, but I think those experiences often tell us way more than the successes and help to guide use to greener pastures. Learning my students each semester is one of those pastures.

@jlbowling @ISTE_ASCD @RCulatta I couldn’t agree more. Intentional use of technology is way more important than using it because you can. I know I try a new tools often, but I try really hard to be sure that the tool actually fits a need I see in my classroom environment. The risk needs to be have a reward.

@coolcatteacher I hope one day I can feel like I am in the lead. I am trying to keep up with all the technology shifts, but it is challenging. Seeing so many cool ideas, tips and tricks, and tools does make it feel possible though. The light at the end of the tunnel is still visible.

@coolcatteacher This actually doesn’t surprise me as much as I think it should. Seeing my students complete “group work” without interacting was a complete shock, and it’s becoming common. Students hate school, and it might be because they’re missing that social aspect. They’re in essence alone.

Amazing / listening to the impact of loneliness on the brain — one impact is we start perceiving more people as a threat. Also look at long form reading and other correlations. #istelive

@jmattmiller I’m an English teacher who definitely doesn’t code, but I’ve been trying out AI chatbots with students to support individual needs with writing tasks. I think this would be a great starting point to try next year to help students think about prompting and the place of AI tools.

3 lessons to teach students about how to handle their business with AI ... straight from a training I just did by CodeAI at the #ISTELive Conference! 1. Teach predictive AI with sticky notes 2. Use the right metaphors 3. Learn about AI thru real life tasks The good news: EVERYONE can get CodeAI's AI+CS curriculum for free! Go to: studio.code.org/catalog And if you're at #ISTE, find CodeAI in room W208BC! #CodeAI #sponsored #ad @codeorg @code.org

@lsc023 This past year was my first trying out workshop style learning. I can’t lie at times I felt overwhelmed. I like the idea of AI supporting both myself and students through this process. Any tips for a newbie?

@LeeAraoz I have tried out a few AI tools with my students, and, yes, they have cheated with AI. I don’t think that students cheating is a fear; it is a reality. The fear comes in when they cannot master core skills they need to learn without AI tools being used responsibly and ethically.

@ClassTechTips These tips make a book study feel really manageable. I have never hosted or participated in one, and I feel like I could use this as a great starting point. My teacher friend and I were just discussing them. I’m going to share this with her.

@MrsAdamsTech This is why sometimes I think it is more important to use tech when it makes sense. Intentional use of tech, even when limited, can have a greater impact of students confidence and learning process than using every tech trick in the book.

@genially I have been using this tool all year! I love it, and my students have really enjoyed using something a little different. I am looking forward to see what else I can create, as I keep trying to make interactive materials and add even more gamification elements in lessons.

@Pen63 I am really interested to see how we start to navigate digital backlash in the classroom. We have been talking about it in rumblings its feels like, but this is my first true encounter with it being a real thing to consider.
