Started reporting this story back in Dhaka and saw firsthand from April to August how opaque the whole Starlink process was. Almost no one wanted to talk; the hush-hush and lack of transparency around the license were honestly shocking. @GeorgiaGee14, @MaryamSaleh, @Miraajripon.
Rest of World@restofworld

How much did Starlink benefit from the close relationship between Elon Musk and Donald Trump? Read Rest of World’s new investigative feature from @GeorgiaGee14, @MehediMarof, and @Miraajripon: restofworld.org/2025/musk-star…

I am attending #NICAR26 (a data journalism conference) in Indianapolis for the first time & honestly, so excited. I’m w a brain ready to break (in a good way); can’t wait to learn new tools, better workflows, & pick ideas I can bring into my reporting. If you’re around, say hi?

Maryam is one of the sharpest, most diligent, and talented journalists I've worked with across my career. Her departure is a real loss to us — but maybe it can be your gain. If you're looking for a talented editor, I can't think of anyone better. She's an absolute star.

Friday was my last day at Rest of World. I'm grateful to @mvzelenks for bringing me onto his ace team and for the cool stuff I worked on (links below). Hiring managers: Reporters tell me I'm a pretty great editor, and I'd like to keep editing investigations or other enterprise.

Tarique Rahman & 200+ BNP MPs-elect took parliamentary oath - but BNP won’t (yet) swear-in to "Constitutional Reform Council." Jamaat–NCP alliance MPs, 77, may skip oath altogether, as earlier signalled. A 68% referendum win & they delay this. Welcome back to "old" Bangladesh 🇧🇩

Voter turnout nearly 33% by noon (1200 hours) across 32,789 polling centres - out of roughly 42,000 centres nationwide in the historic Bangladesh Election. Incredible, so far, with no major reports of violence. #BangladeshElections2026

The Washington Post is laying off a third of its workforce across both the newsroom and its business operations, a massive blow at a storied newspaper that has struggled in recent years to stay profitable. @GeoffRBennett speaks to @PostBaron, who was editor of the Post from 2012 until 2021, for more on the cuts and their implications.

.@JeffBezos, since I came to India early last summer to be the The Post's India bureau chief, one thing was abundantly clear: in India's media ecosystem very few outlets can do accountability reporting without fear of government censure. The Post is one of them. Since August, we showed the ways Indian billionaires got treated far better than others; the role of Indian conglomerates in fueling Russia's war in Ukraine; India's draconian deportation campaign of Muslims to Bangladesh and stories unpacking the breakdown in diplomatic relations between Washington and New Delhi. We in New Delhi want to keep doing our jobs so The Post readers can understand the South Asia region better — a wish we hope you share. #SaveThePost

Bangladesh repeatedly saw transitions hijacked by coups, counter-coups & military rule. Army today isn't positioned for an overt takeover, but it remains a decisive power centre: embedded across the state, able to narrow civilian choices. My latest: aje.news/kgatwv

No dragons. No armies of the dead. No Iron Throne battles. Just a gentle giant of a hedge knight and a stubborn mouthly little squire... A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on @HBO is funny, grounded, and weirdly wholesome… until you remember what world they’re in.

Bangladesh 🇧🇩 “Practically speaking, anyone who turned 18 after the 2008 parliamentary election has never had the chance to vote in a competitive poll,” said Humayun Kabir of the Election Commission’s national identity registration wing. @trahmanbnp declared total assets of about £120,000 & annual income of roughly £4,100 in election affidavit. He lived years in a home worth well over £1 million in affluent KT area in south-west London. There needs to be a transparent explanation of how he or who financed that.
