@kentonp_ag @BarleyPlanet @JimZwar @far_australia @theGRDC @darcydww2 The waterlogging tolerant Planet line I gave to you is still a mixture of selections. Here is a video showing a pure line of WL tolerant Planet in our field trial. This trial has been underwater for two months; a large proportion of Planet died with no dead plants in WL Planet.

@BarleyPlanet @JimZwar @far_australia @theGRDC @darcydww2 @MeixueZ We have one of @MeixueZ lines in the experiment. Should generate some yield data.

@kentonp_ag @theGRDC @far_australia Thanks for posting this. Aerenchyma starts to form after 1-2 weeks waterlogging (gene starts to express) thus the longer WL stress the more difference between tolerance and sensitive ones. We are testing more lines with additional genes for ion toxicity tolerance.

@MeixueZ your water log tolerant lines are getting a real test with the late sowing date experiment at @theGRDC @far_australia Hyperyielding germplasm screen in Vic. Left = normal planet, Right = water log tolerant. When are the genes most expressed? What growth stage?

Mallee boy got gum boots today! Genuinely excited about Water Logging Tolerant Planet barley developed by Meixue Zhou @UTAS_ Evaluation in collaboration with @theGRDC @far_australia Hyperyield sites. This pic taken in water log (anaerobic) spray tracks Tolerant(L),RGT Planet (R)

@BlakelyPaynter If have enough funding we could have the gene into commercial varieties in 2 years
