@RichardHanania Comparing to Rogan is a strawman. There’s plenty of good alternative media out there that far surpasses NYT for reliability

It’s insane that I have to explain that the NYT is more credible and a better institution than the Joe Rogan Experience, but in my experience this is a controversial thing to say among conservatives. Critics of the media need to acknowledge what a failure the alternative is.
Conversations with Coleman@ConvoswColeman

.@RichardHanania says institutions like ‘The New York Times’ and Harvard—while far from perfect—are far more reliable sources of knowledge than the podcast circuit. “If ‘The New York Times’ really gets facts wrong, they will correct it. Most of the big podcasters out there—they’re not going to correct anything.” “‘The New York Times’ is still fundamentally doing journalism. Harvard is still fundamentally doing peer-reviewed research and producing knowledge. The medical establishment is still producing drugs and learning how to treat disease.... There is no real alternative for sifting through what’s true and what’s false.”

So is anybody who lionized this kid for being the Joan of Arc of climate change going to say anything about the fact that she switched to the Gaza attention train so seamlessly? If you’re a serious climate activist or if you’re a serious Israel critic, I kinda think her schtick should embarrass you. Because it highlights the mimetic faddishness of both causes.

For Greta Thunberg to stand in a German city wearing a top calling for “Intifada” within living memory of the Holocaust is GROTESQUE. To do it with a smile is SICK.

So it’s Jews vs a Jew-killing supporter. Good. He should be defeated for his disgusting views and Jews should take the lead. Oh, not Stalinist Jews like you. You’d push another Jew into the gas chamber.

AIPAC is now spending 8x as much as Abdul El-Sayed's entire campaign on the MI Senate primary. This race is not between Abdul and Haley Stevens. It is Abdul vs. AIPAC. A billionaire-funded Super PAC shouldn't determine American elections or foreign policy. Let's support Abdul.

Mamdani attacks Hayek and Vance attacks Friedman a few days apart. This is how you know you have all the right enemies.

@MekNr4 @PhilWMagness @myname93353387 Dictatorship of the proletariat clearly implies the they would somehow wield power benevolently and wisely. Humans are basically self interested whether you call them proletariat, socialists, communists, politicians, govt employees or capitalists. Can’t wish away human nature.

likelihood the united states will actually implement 20% strait of hormuz toll is roughly the same as the likelihood the united states was actually going to destroy iranian civilization.

@MekNr4 @PhilWMagness @myname93353387 Don’t need 3 major errors. One is more than enough. Despite the overwhelming evidence of world history, he thought humans are wise and benevolent creatures who operate in the interest of the general will - whatever that is - if given power. It’s a profoundly stupid presumption.

The two fastest-growing economies in the 21st century have been China and Vietnam. Both follow a model that's shockingly easy to summarise: a socialist market economy focused on export-oriented industrialization.

"As for the future, we expect the rich world’s debt binge to end in an inflationary mess" The Economist is not always wrong. But here it is wrong, since the "debt binge" mixes together "public debt" (nothing to see here, currency creators cannot run out of it) and "private debt", which is inherently risky because non-repayment is always possible. Whether we will see an "inflationary mess" in the future depends on many things, but not on "the rich world's debt binge". economist.com/interactive/fi…

@foosnik @MekNr4 @PhilWMagness @myname93353387 No, it has a falsifiable empirical implication, namely that a good's exchange value is determined by the amount of labor of average quality that is necessary to make it. It is easy to show this implication is falsified. See chapter 2 of Das Kapital.
