Its true blood is thicker than water. Real parents have higher tolerance to blood than children who are not theirs. After 15 years in foster care and 5 attempted adoptions I aged out of an abusive system. My main problem was a mother who never engaged and a father who was just sowing his seed. Ya i was angry child but what did people expect?

This phenomenon is so common they call it the Cinderella effect. They've done studies that have shown stepparents tend to be less invested in children that aren't biologically theirs. They won't tell them to buckle their seatbelt as much. They won't make doctor's appointments as often. They favor their own biological children over the other dependents in their house.
