🌍 Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities! #IPDP 🔎 We conducted a global scoping review on the barriers and interventions of access in healthcare services for persons with disabilities 👉 Full paper: equityhealthj.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11… 🧵 Key findings & recs [1/13]

Today I met with representatives of the Palestinian General Union for Persons with Disabilities, Palestinian Disability Coalition, Arab Organisation of Persons with Disabilities, Disability Justice for Palestine Collective and @IDA_CRPD_Forum to discuss the grave and growing needs of Palestinians with disabilities in #Gaza and the West Bank. We agreed on the immediate needs: - assistive technology and devices to be allowed as part of health aid into Gaza - expansion of medical evacuations for specialised care for people with disabilities that cannot be provided in Gaza - access to reproductive health care for women with disabilities - comprehensive long term plan for restoration of the health system to ensure inclusion of specialised care for persons with disabilities as well as rehabilitation - and above all, ceasefire. Peace is the only way to stop the suffering of Palestinians, including those with disabilities.
