@jonburkeUK@Ray_Mears I am supportive of the use of this meme, but when you get past the Telegraph click bait headline, what Mears actually says is much more balanced and nuanced
I know trains and railways are complicated things, but why does it appear that whenever I go through a small stations in Greater London the train goes through like a rocket. But when I go though a small station in Yorkshire, such as East Garforth, we always go at a snails pace.
I quite enjoyed writing the last blog so I've gone and done another one. This one's about the new Energy SPS and how it could work a bit harder for local net zero places linkedin.com/pulse/local-ne… via @LinkedIn
@betateachpod Understanding of tech def needs to improve. But, are concerns related to cost, rather than tech? When people say 'heat pumps can't work in old buildings' is it often shorthand for 'heat pumps can work in old buildings, but I'm worried the costs to get them to do so are too high'?
Activating people as autonomous learners is key. The amount of Sustainability bods and climate change managers I've spoken to who still think heat pumps can't work in old buildings. I feel like saying: have you got of your backside and actually bought a book on the technology or got involved in discussions about the technologies. They also don't realise that the office they work in was also being heated with Air to air. They just thought it did the AC.
I’ve written a blog (also - it’s my first one) on the new regional bodies that will design net zero. If that’s your sort of thing, it’s here: linkedin.com/posts/melanie-…
@betateachpod Glad I found you! Agree. Perhaps trick to this will be elevating existing regional knowledge and expertise rather (devolution up) rather than trying to create it top down + national methodologies that can embrace regional difference
"A commitment to transferring power to people and communities with experience of poverty should be a core principle"
@Grace_Pollard1 introduces our new framework to support local areas to ‘design out’ severe hardship.

Tomorrow is my first half marathon. All the @parkrunUK and training have been great but tomorrow is the real deal
Its worth it to take part in such a great event and raise money for such a good cause.
If you are able, please donate to @CryptLeedsjustgiving.com/page/alex-sobe…
@heatpolicyrich Thanks for this helpful explainer Rich. I suppose a legitimate concern from manufacturers might be that they can influence, but ultimately not control, consumer demand.
Is there anything in the consultation about consumer protections?
The UK government is currently consulting on the proposed 'Clean Heat Market Mechanism' (closes 8th June).
It has the potential to be a very important industrial and energy policy.
But what exactly is it? 🧵
I’ve got a new personal blog up. On how things with lots of different benefits - like planting trees or insulating homes - often don’t happen.
I’m calling it the *multi-benefit problem*, and I think solving it more often would make our lives better

@lowwintersun I think that culture war has already started, both here and in the US; it’s just simply not yet in the full glare of public focus. If the dialogue continues to follow those lines and we don’t find a calmer way to discuss it, the victim will be public trust and everyone loses.
Will shortly be launching world’s first cabin-luggage sized squeezy cheese (assuming its classed as a liquid) following some high level market research. DM for more details
Few holiday tips for you… 1) For efficient packing, put everything you need in the laundry 12 hours before departure, then just take the few things that dried in time.
