Then stepped forward Sister Ann Rose Nu Tawng, a Catholic nun from the Kachin ethnic community and a member of the Sisters of St. Francis Xavier. Wearing her simple white habit, she walked straight into the street, dropped to her knees, and stretched out her arms in front of the guns.
