First of all: Lutherans didn't exist before 1500s
Second: They were Catholic.

In February – March 2021, during the violent military crackdown on pro-democracy protests in Myitkyina, Myanmar, heavily armed riot police advanced on a group of unarmed civilians, many of them young people and children.
Then stepped forward Sister Ann Rose Nu Tawng, a Catholic nun from the Kachin ethnic community and a member of the Sisters of St. Francis Xavier.
Wearing her simple white habit, she walked straight into the street, dropped to her knees, and stretched out her arms in front of the guns. With tears in her eyes, she pleaded with the soldiers:
“Shoot me instead! Don’t shoot the children!”
Her absolute courage and selflessness stunned the armed unit. They halted their advance. The image of this lone nun facing down rifles and shields became one of the most powerful symbols of peaceful resistance in modern times, a modern David and Goliath moment seen around the world.
Sister Ann, who worked at a church-run clinic helping the sick and displaced, later said she acted because “there was no one else to protect the people.”
This photo didn’t just go viral, it touched millions of hearts across every faith and nation, reminding us what real bravery and Christ-like love look like in the face of raw power.
One small woman with a big God can change the course of a moment… and inspire the world.
