@KGallagher_SCI Group share and editing ability for the win. It’s free. Likely it is what is most known to them. They’re high school students. They haven’t used all the newest ways as much, plus covid-schooling all mid school years.

why do high school students default to PowerPoints (Google slides, you get it)? they have no intention of presenting, why is this the format of choice?

@nice_teacher I set in groups of 4/5. Collaborative thought is highly encouraged I walk the room answering questions. things I say: I can be your teacher or babysitter. I can teach or police you and you teach yourself. If you hear my voice I don’t hear yours. I will not compete. We’ll wait.

Okay teachers, what’s your best seating chart for a talkative class with a lot of personality conflicts? Behavior issues are out of control. I currently have desks in groups of four or five for collaborative work, but this has got to change.

Getting to know your students and coworkers on a meaningful level means they in turn get to know you. They saw it and thought of me. Coffee addict. Hip hop fanatic. 100% randomly eclectic. They get it. #teacher #teacherlife

@teacher2teacher The students. They’re energy. Hearing their conversations. Watching them process. ❤️Having an exchange of wit and humor. Students talking real life, hearing their stories, their future plans. 17 year olds. Never dull.

Sometimes it's the little things. ❤️

100%. There’s something to like in everyone. Step out, drop perceptions, and without expectation; meet them. As a person. Once you’ve got them they’ll try, because they trust. They’ll have success because they tried. And that is something they can take with them through life.

Same 11 grade I get one more year of them swinging in and talking to them in the halls. But last years group was an all time amazing energy. I teach “those kids” never a dull moment. Some big personalities walking this year’s graduation. Prom’s next week it will be a fun nite
