If you’re in Canada, use this link to find out how to fight back against proposed fossil fuel projects that are destroying our climate and violating the rights of Indigenous peoples. Let’s end fracking and the expansion of LNGs! linktr.ee/NotInOurNation…

@Coffey4Canada2 That easy. Cut the enormous beauracracy that the liberals have created. You don't need to increase revenue. There's piles of wasted dollars that can be cut.

@MarkReid42 @MelocShadowcat So your saying that the liberal government built that debt all by itself? Your telling me that Harper wasn't given a surplus and turned it into a deficit? Tha the cons are a bastion of fiscal responsibility? GTFOH

Lots of Liberal whiners out there this morning going off about CPC wanting to cancel the high-speed rail. Canada is fucking BROKE. The liberals drained the tank for generations. The same bunch wonder why everything is so fucking expensive and praise Carney for printing more money. Holy fuck!

@MelocShadowcat @MarkReid42 And none of them would have been built without loan guarantees from the federal government, even before both Trudeau pm's.

@YOW_MCG @mobinfiltrator @STEusermane For daily commutes? Don't be stupid. Daily commuter traffic is the only way this thing will be useful. Tourists from BC taking 1 ride every few years is a retarded justification for the thousands of dollars they'd pay in taxes for it.

@mobinfiltrator @STEusermane Yes, someone in BC does have the option to use it. No British Columbian ever has visited Toronto, Montreal, or Quebec City in the same trip, right? What a bonehead!

Saying the #Ontario HSR will “serve 18 million people” is misleading. That’s the total population of the corridor, not the number of people who will (or can) actually use it. Access isn’t universal: - Not everyone lives near a station - Not everyone can afford the fares -Not everyone travels that route regularly -Many will still rely on cars or regional transit It’s like saying a single Catholic church in Toronto “serves 18 million people.” Technically it’s there, but in reality, only a fraction can or will use it. Muslims, Jewish, and atheist won’t use it. The people who can’t get to it won’t use it. The people who can’t afford to put in the collection plate won’t use it. But we’re borrowing that money under everyone’s name to build it. #HSR #onpoli #canpoli

@MelocShadowcat @MarkReid42 The trans 🇨🇦 railroad was built by the cpr (chosen by the FEDS) and financed by FED SUBS; the trans 🇨🇦 highway was build and financed by the FEDS in partnership with the 10 provinces. Private companies may do the work but the gov provides the money! Dont forget the SL seaway!

@MegatronElliott @HTBF1968 They aren't doing anything about it but spend more. Spending keeps going up you keeping voting for it. Therefore you don't care. However in your ridiculous example, we'll it's just ridiculous considering the deputy leader is gay and nobody cares. So apples and oranges.

@MelocShadowcat @HTBF1968 It's broad strokes. Saying that there isn't a single "lefty" who doesn't care about spending or the budget is dumb, and reductive.

@MelocShadowcat @HTBF1968 That's a wildly dumb thing to say. It would be like me saying every conservative hates gay people. Does every conservative hate gay people? Or do only some? There are fiscally conservative liberals, look at our current PM.

Canada is literally the only G7 country without high speed rail. Conservatives want you to continue to pay sky high prices for gas, worsen congestion on roads and make your commute hours longer. We've been "studying" high speed rail for 50 years - time to get it built.

Pierre Poilievre, once again, is showing Canadians that he has no vision to create jobs and grow the economy.   For decades, Canadians have advocated for a modern, fast, inter-city rail network. Alto is a generational investment that will transform travel and connect communities. It will boost GDP by $35 billion annually, create over 51,000 well-paying jobs, and help Canadians work, study, and travel more efficiently.   Pierre Poilievre is turning his back on Canadians from Quebec City to Toronto and the communities in between. Investing in High-Speed Rail means building a more connected, competitive Canada, and proves Canada can get big things done.   The Conservatives, as usual, think small. Turning away from nation-building investments is the wrong choice, and one Canadians reject at a time when we need to build and grow.
