💜 International Human Rights Day & The Close of #16DaysofActivism Today, marks International Human Rights Day and the powerful close of our #16DaysofActivism campaign. Ending violence against women is not just a policy goal, it is a fundamental human right. As we conclude this campaign, we affirm that the fight for human rights must be integrated across all spaces, especially the digital realm. The Digital Human Rights Crisis Our campaign on #TFGBV highlighted that technology has become a weapon of control and intimidation, threatening to undo decades of hard-won gains. This abuse from doxxing to deepfakes, a systemic denial of women's rights to safety, expression, and participation in public life. Our commitment to human rights requires urgent action: ✊🏿 We must uphold the rights of Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) who face growing repression and violence for their work. ✊🏽 We must demand international governance frameworks and safety by design in technology platforms to protect digital rights. ✊🏻 We must secure flexible, long-term funding for the feminist movements driving human rights forward. The 16 days may be over, but the work continues every day. We remain committed to ensuring that women and girls, in all their diversities, are #SafeInEverySpace. #HumanRightsDay #16DaysofActivism #EndTFGBV

Thirty years after Beijing, the promise remains unfinished. For women and girls across Africa, commitments to safety, dignity, and freedom from violence have yet to translate into lived reality. This 16 Days, we reflect on how violence continues to evolve moving across our homes, institutions, and increasingly, our digital spaces. Technology has reshaped power, but it has also enabled new forms of harm, rendering online spaces unsafe for women and girls. The question remains urgent: Who is responsible? Who is accountable? Ending violence online requires clear accountability from platforms, states, and institutions across the continent. #ACTtoEndViolence #SRHRDialogues

Human Rights Day reminds us that safety, education, health, freedom, equality, and justice are everyday essentials, not privileges. Let’s stand up for fairness, protect the vulnerable, and ensure every voice is heard. #HumanRightsDay2025 #EverydayEssentials #StandUpForRights

In Kenya, about 5 million people - primarily from Muslim-majority communities - have been forced to go through intrusive security screenings, excessive documentation requirements, and unreasonable delays when applying for essential identity documents. #MyIDMyRight #IDDay

Kenya’s Constitution does not permit a two-tiered system where different ID application standards are imposed on sections of Kenyan citizens based solely on religious background or ethnicity. We urge the government to finally address this long-standing injustice and ensure every Kenyan enjoys equal, non-discriminatory access to citizenship documents. #MyIDMyRight #IDDay @kipmurkomen @InteriorKE

For millions of Kenyans, mainly from majority Muslim communities and other minority ethnic groups, the promise to end ID vetting remains only on paper. #IDDay In practice the new structure for ID applications, that applies to only some sections of Kenyans, still creates excessive demands on applicants while also retaining the unchecked power of officials mainly chiefs - to determine whether an applicant gets an ID, even when the applicant provides government-issued supporting documents as part of their application. #MyIDMyRight
