UFA Luke Schenn on Vancouver : I loved playing in VAN, I know what it means to be a Canuck. The 1 person in that organization that helped me the most was Ryan Johnson, he was incredible to me, we keep in touch, he cares about players. They are in good hands with RJ & the twins.

a sneaky potential trade target for the #isles i’ve been thinking of is Filip Hronek. locked up for a very reasonable $7.25M for the next 6 seasons, taking him through his prime (Exp. Age 34) Gets Schaefer a RH partner long term - and if Islanders don’t trade Pelech they could potentially just stack their Defense next season to help Sorokin & take some pressure off Schaefer who shouldn’t be playing 28 minutes every night. With Vancouver rebuilding, I can see them also eating one of the Isles’ bad contracts - whether it’s Mayfield/Duclair/Engvall Considering Hronek got traded for a 17th overall pick & a 2nd in 2023 - I would imagine a return centered around the 13th overall pick this year could get it done. These Hronek trade proposals for a top 5 pick need to be stopped. On lots of teams he’s a 2nd pair dman.
No team is trading a future star for a guy who could be considered a role player.
He’s a good dman for sure and he can get a solid return but that return isn’t a top 5 pick

Thought that was an A+ press conference from the Canucks. Spoke like leaders who want to put in the work to make it right. It’s about building organizations to contend and not teams to make the playoffs. They may be a long way away from contending but the structure is in place.
