Went to Kandy botanical gardens. It’s beautiful, incredible trees, the ones from Burma have insane root systems. There were monkeys, squirrels, lovely birds and then we looked up… there were hundreds and thousands of bats! I thought it was monkeys making the noise at first 😳🦇

@Enzoagogo Many Canada geese stay all winter in the south of the province. Not sure it is good for them individually as disease sometimes takes out quite a number but as a species it does not seem to make much difference.

@MemoryLaneRV There is hope. A couple small unorganized wedges of Canadian geese flying north. Strong wind at their rear. Moderate visibility.

33f this a.m. songbirds here and bachelor buttons have buds. Bachelor buttons Can be used as a Low nutrition cover Crop. Pretty good biomass accumulater. Can be combined with buckwheat and sunflowers. Weeds will fear to tread.

As to health: there are so many deer one suspects their menu includes venison along with mice and wandering cats. In fall, the scat on the trails shows berries. This clip is from before the last storm.

@Enzoagogo Think of spring with flowers blooming and skeins of geese passing overhead on their way north. Bright and sunny here today but the wind is fierce.

Out on walk this a.m.. Steady drizzle. Wind about fifteen mph out of the south.

@Enzoagogo The wild roses here are also invasive......if given bare ground. In the wild, they tend to be in balance with other trees and shrubs.

@MemoryLaneRV The ones here invasive. They won't get them all. They do provide habitat for birds and hundreds of lady beetles 🐞 hatched out in there last. spring. The American dream held by many, is neat and tidy with a lawn. These are far from tidy.

Word is, the powers the be, will remove these wild roses in favor of trees. Should be interesting. I've been tossing hollyhock and other wildflower seeds in there for a decade. Tiny joys. #germinationwatch #gardengrewpeas
