@NewfNukem @VGComplainers Yep, exactly. While at the same time they brag about how they're using AI to become more efficient & to reduce costs. Do you think they'll pass those savings on? I doubt it. I'd bet that instead they'll use them to brag about increased margins to their shareholders.

@MenTaL9R @VGComplainers Not to mention the flood of games which are becoming far more costly. Costs go up, we get it, but the recent price jumps by these companies make no sense.

Gaming is becoming so incredibly stupid priced and with streaming services gouging us every year, I feel like so many hobbies we love are on the verge of collapse.

@llouck7 Oh man, no time for #CrimsonDesert... I'm still playing #ResidentEvilRequiem, and I just finished my second playthrough. Now I have this crazy idea that I might try to beat in on Insanity... but will that actually happen??? 😂

@llouck7 Looks very cool, I just have a really hard time getting into that style of game. Still though, that trailer makes me want to try it, even if it is for less than an hour 😂

@RobertHart76 @asha_shar What Xbox should do is have a USB external optical drive for people that like physical and have built up large libraries. Or better yet, let any BD Optical drive for PC work with it. No disc drive support, means they don't care about full backwards compatibility

Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console. Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. Looking forward to chatting about this more with partners and studios at my first GDC next week!

@Dee_Batch @Colteastwood The other angle is, the next Xbox will have Steam. If Sony doesn't want Xbox to have their single player titles, their claim to fame for 20yrs, this is the move. The flip side is the next XB won't sell many at $1500+ USD. I'll play the few that I like on my PS5 I guess 🤷‍♂️

Colt, they released them years after. Truth is, most get a ps5 when they want exclusives. Spider-Man 2 sold 16 million on PS. then when released on PC, 700k. If it were day and date, it would be more. But console sales would take a hit. They gotta share revenue with Steam. They simply care more about the console than anything else. Something Xbox does not. Now PS has its own games you can't get anywhere else, and Xbox games too. So now they protect what they built from PC hybrid, Xbox, and Steam machines. You do that by not putting any of your single-player exclusive games there.

If PC players weren't willing to spend $60 on PlayStation Games, what makes Sony think they'll spend $600 to get a PS5?

@geoffkeighley @asha_shar I wonder if she had anything to do with Microsoft pushing AI into every single corner of Windows 11? I mean, that worked out great for them right? Who doesn't love having Copilot attached to Notepad? Am I right? Oh wait... 😬

Read a first note from @asha_shar the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming: Dear team,    Today I begin my role as CEO of Microsoft Gaming.   I feel two things at once: humility and urgency.  Humility because this team has built something extraordinary over decades. Urgency because gaming is in a period of rapid change, and we need to move with clarity and conviction.   I am stepping into work shaped by generations of artists, engineers, designers, writers, musicians, operators and more who create worlds that have brought joy and deep personal meaning to hundreds of millions of players. The level of craft here is exceptional, and it is amplified by Xbox, which was founded in the belief that the power of games connect people and push the industry forward.    Thank you to Phil for his leadership, and to every studio, platform, and operations team that built this foundation. We are stewards of some of the most loved stories and characters in entertainment and bring players and creators together around the fun and community of gaming in entirely new ways.   My first job is simple: understand what makes this work and protect it.  That starts with three commitments.  First, great games.      Everything begins here. We must have great games beloved by players before we do anything.  Unforgettable characters, stories that make us feel, innovative game play, and creative excellence. We will empower our studios, invest in iconic franchises, and back bold new ideas. We will take risks. We will enter new categories and markets where we can add real value, grounded in what players care about most.  I promoted Matt Booty in honor of this commitment. He understands the craft and the challenges of building great games, has led teams that deliver award-winning work, and has earned the trust of game developers across the industry.  Second, the return of Xbox.     We will recommit to our core Xbox fans and players, those who have invested with us for the past 25 years, and to the developers who build the expansive universes and experiences that are embraced by players across the world.  We will celebrate our roots with a renewed commitment to Xbox starting with console which has shaped who we are. It connects us to the players and fans who invest in Xbox, and to the developers who build ambitious experiences for it.   Gaming now lives across devices, not within the limits of any single piece of hardware. As we expand across PC, mobile, and cloud, Xbox should feel seamless, instant, and worthy of the communities we serve. We will break down barriers so developers can build once and reach players everywhere without compromise.  Third, future of play.  We are witnessing the reinvention of play.  To meet the moment, we will invent new business models and new ways to play by leaning into what we already have: iconic teams, characters, and worlds that people love. But we will not treat those worlds as static IP to milk and monetize. We will build a shared platform and tools that empower developers and players to create and share their own stories.   As monetization and AI evolve and influence this future, we will not chase short-term efficiency or flood our ecosystem with soulless AI slop. Games are and always will be art, crafted by humans, and created with the most innovative technology provided by us.  The next 25 years belong to the teams who dare to build something surprising, something no one else is willing to try, and have the patience to see it through. We have done this before, and I am here to help us do it again. I want to return to the renegade spirit that built Xbox in the first place. It will require us to relentlessly question everything, revisit processes, protect what works, and be brave enough to change what does not.  Thank you for welcoming me into this journey.  Asha

@llouck7 I love our Samoyed, she's great. Not going to lie though, if I could only pick a single dog it's a German Sheperd all day everyday. I've had 2 in my life, insanely loyal, so intelligent, and so willing to learn. Iconic dogs. I keep telling my wife, our next dog will be a GS.

@NewfNukem Nice! This reminds me, I have to fix mine, the power supply died in it over a year ago. I picked one up to replace it, just haven't got around to doing the surgery yet. The fan was getting loud in it too if I remember right... Definitely not built to last that's for sure.

@NewfNukem I have no plans to buy it, but if I do it would be the PS5 version, just because I might as well get it for the Pro. Or just wait for the PC release. I never bought GTA V, but I did get it for free from Epic Games on PC. I've never installed it hehe...

@Dee_Batch It's already underpowered by today's standards, so that's it's main drawback. Price though is the great equalizer, if it's cheap enough that will make the difference. Plus Valve can subsidize this massively if they want because of their near monopoly on PC game sales via Steam.
